It would be a bad move for FOX to retcon or contradict Alien: Isolation. The game is very good, with excellent reviews both from critics and fans alike. Plus I can think of nothing in the game that would potentially interfere with any plans for a future Alien movie set after Aliens. If they retcon it, it would be just for the sake of retconing it IMO.

I believe that specifically the said they had to get permission for
the scavenger group to be the ones to turn off the beacon on the alien ship
    , which is now "official".

also I'm in the hive in Isolation

    afraid to play it

Do anybody have any suggestions on books about the slaves and/or creoles situation in the French Carrabin? Preferably with focus on the 19th century

I'm curious what could possibly make you think that this is the most likely place for you to find the best answer to that question.

    Google Books is your friend.

There was a part in the game where it was so tense and overwhelming that I just wanted to give up.

    You're not there yet.

...I have not tried Isolation, mostly because I am a complete coward, but also because I'm not a huge fan of FPSs or Resident Evil style games anymore these days.

Putting that aside, is it still worth playing? I admit, I did enjoy playing through Dead Space- even if the first game scared the living %$^& out of me- so I can sometimes enjoy an FPS/Survival game if the overriding narrative is awesome enough by itself?

If you like the Alien franchise, especially the original Alien film, then this is a must play. It's definitely the best Alien video game released, with a great story in context to the franchise along with a likeable protagonist. As for the gameplay, the game is pretty tense, scary and relatively long, so it takes some patience and nerves to finish it.

First picture of Aquaman, or Grumpy Aquaman as I like to call him. It looks fine, but more and more the DC movieverse just seems to be not my cup of team in terms of the glumness of it all, though of course not enough for me not to go see it :).

Each of these pictures is more Zack Snyder than the last one.

I think Zack Snyder would be really good at making Snicker's commercials.

Sounds like it has potential... I might try it out after all then. :)

I remember that I loved the original AvP game many, many years ago... though have generally found all the other Alien franchise games awful, but it's nice to know that Isolation actually sounds decent for a change.

One of my favorite comedians, Harris Wittels (head writer of Parks & Rec, frequenter of Comedy Bang Bang podcast, and generally one of the funniest joke writers ever) just died of an overdose after a long battle with prescription opiate addiction that turned into a heroin addiction. It's so sad... people this funny aren't supposed to die this young.

The disgusting thing is, it seems like some church group or something must have found the announcement on the Facebook page of his band, Don't Stop or We'll Die*, because there's all kinds of crap from people who obviously don't even know who the guy was. **** like this is why evangelism fails---both in its religious and secular forms---and people who genuinely want to help others wind up getting shut out from the stigma. EDIT: Yep, confirmed... the Westboro Baptist Church is picketing his funeral. Ridiculous.

    *BttF reference!

EDIT - Weird, so not only are the Westboro Baptist Church picketing his funeral, he also has Scientology after him because he talked about a bad experience with his girlfriend talking him into going to Scientology rehab on Pete Holmes' podcast, "You Made it Weird."

The good news is, he would find that accomplishment absolutely hilarious.

I guess no one remembers 90's Aquaman then? Oh well everyone will see the movie anyways.

I definitely remember that, and I didn't like it back then either. Between that and making Hal Jordan into Parallax were some reasons I stopped reading comics when I was younger.

Honestly I really don't mind the movie look, its just not the direction I would prefer. I fully admit I would like to see comic characters generally look like they traditionally do in the comics. Though it certainly doesn't anger me or cause me to boycott something if that is not the case, its worth a try. I am going to see all the DC movies not matter what happens, I am especially interested in seeing Cyborg on the big screen. If I don't like them I can fall back on the TV universe, cartoon movies, and comics to keep me more than entertained. I think I am going to go ahead and buy Young Justice on Blu-Ray just for that very reason. :)

Though I can still hope for a Justice League movie one day with only one grumpy member:

or to be so bold to show something that features the whole Justice League

Geez I didn't realize there were so many weirdos in the JL bunch. So much untapped potential, forever to be trapped in sepia tones of Snyderangst.

Lugija - At long last, I finished your blog series! ...up to date. To eight.

    Belated comments time!

Heh. That's a Youtube riff waiting to happen.

That seems to be the theme of the series. Both openly about religion, and on a more subtle level when it comes to everyone's hopes and dreams. Like, doesn't it seem the characters always believe in some personal desire or ideal that's just impractical considering their circumstance? Rob and the defeat of the Lannister army? Dany and the easy conquest of Westeros? Bran and walking? Sansa and love? Varys and... Varys... "...what do you want?"

    HA.

    This is a good point...

I wonder if the show's writers -- aside from GRRM of course -- know something we don't? By just reading the books, the IB (iBoB?) doesn't seem all that important. More of a secondary figure to set up other plots, like the church one. But the show seems to place undue emphasis on it, considering what little screen time they have to allot to everyone else.

    Wise words. Writers take note.

And it goes without saying, these blog comics are a riot. I forgot the dagger plot was such a muddle if you just went off the show.

Thanks for comments. I just watched the ninth episode. Look at those money shots! The blog post comes at some point next week.

And I just remembered that I was supposed to change the title to "Mountain Is Right" for some time, I'll do that at some point.

Telltale. I'll probably get the Borderlands one as well.

Now I'll have to figure out how canon works for GoT, though. [face_laugh]
