Actually, that would be a very interesting direction to go in I think.

I concur. I solved it a couple weeks ago and have been playing every now and then. The only achievements that I haven't unlocked are the Flags, and the Public Assassination (which I swear I did when I killed the mad-doctor). The game was awesome, but in the end I got bored with looking for the last four or five flags in each city. Maybe one of these days I buy the guide and locate the remaining flags. BTW, I couldn't find the last Templar for the longest time... he was in the Kingdom near the over-pass on the way to Acre. Don't know why, but killing all of the Templars was more exciting than actually finishing the game...

I gave it an 8.0 out 10, and I look forward to seeing what improvements they make for the sequel.

I just finished it yesterday on the PS3.

The game was beautiful to look at, and it was entertaining. But, the game play was all too repetitive. Even the character voicing was not varied enough, as all the citizens you save basically say the same thing.

That link above helps to explain the end quite a lot. I hope when they make the sequel, it will feature much more interesting side quests.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I have a disc read problem every time I try to enter Damascus.

I just bought the game brand new yesterday. I also just bought a 360 brand new yesterday (the Halo 3 version). I am incredibly pissed.

Every time I ride into Damascus, it says that my Xbox cannot read the disc.

When I started the game, I found myself wishing that it was more like Legend of Zelda in regards to interacting with people.

A few subplots would really help flesh this game out. Despite its broad, open world, it still feels linear.

At least Zelda makes use of its big world (and Hyrule seems considerably small when put against Assassin Creed's holy land--so the unrealized potential for subplots is very disappointing).

Apparently there are a lot of bonus missions you are able to unlock later, which all sound interesting but unfortunate they aren't unlocked sooner.

    hahahahah

"I envy you, Altair! Well, not the way you were beaten and stripped of your rank, but I envy everything else. Oh, except for the terrible things the other assassins say about you. But yes, aside from the failure and the hatred I envy you very much!"

    Win.

This game is twenty bucks off at Best Buy on Tuesday...is it worth dropping forty on?

Yeah, it's a pretty fun game, but it can get repetitive. Walking up to a target and knifing him never gets old, though.

I rented this, and was glad I didn't buy it. It is a great looking game, but I hated that when I was running away every time I ran into a wall I would start climbing some random thing that didn't go anywhere, and then it took way too long to let go, which was frustrating. I didn't finish it because the save system sucked and after I had played through half of it my XBOX turn on randomly when I was watching TV and somehow erased everything. Sometimes innovation isn't improvement.

My brother just bought a 360 yesterday, and I got to play some Assassin's Creed. I'm thoroughly enjoying it thus far.

Assuming Rock Band or Halo 3 don't pre-empt it. :p

Ubisoft have just announced the recommended specs for the PC version of Assassins Creed

Ubisoft unveil the PC specs for Assassin's Creed

All credit goes to Sionyboy for heading this info our way - top man! Anyway, Ubisoft have "released" the hardware requirements for the forthcoming PC version of Assassin's Creed... not in any big press release though. No, they decide to hide them away in their Help & Support section.

Anyway, here are the gory details:

In order to play this game properly, your PC MUST meet or exceed these minimum requirements:

Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)

Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)

RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)

Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0?compliant video card or DirectX 9.0?compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)

DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)

    DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive

    Hard Drive Space: 12 GB

Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)

*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
    ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 / 3000 series
    NVIDIA GeForce 6600-6800 / 7 / 8 / 9 series

Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.

NOTICE: This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some disc and virtual drives.

    ( Source)

Ouchouchouchouch - they're pretty high! 3GB of RAM recommended? Geez, just how much "optimisation" has this PC version had? That's ludicrous! Don't worry about the bit where it says "DirectX 10 libraries" required - that's clearly a typo, as Windows XP will require DirectX 9.0c!

Weird. The save system was pretty darn easy, IMO.

Besides the problems I had with it, I just don't like random saves at all. I want to know that when I leave the game that everything I've done to that point has been saved. It isn't so much that I want to be able to save at some point in a mission so I don't have to go back as far, I just don't want the entire thing to be autosaved.

And when I am stupid enough to try to turn my XBOX off from the wireless controller without flipping the input to actually see the screen, I shouldn't be able to accidentally wipe out the one and only saved game.

Overall I would rate it a 7.6/10. Running away from guards through the streets and taking out people from behind was cool, but even in the few days I played it, it became very repetative. Oh and the other thing that really bugged be was the whole dialogue sections. The forced camera view was just annoying, and there wasn't any way to speed up the somewhat boring conversations, especially with the little side quests. It also sounded like they could only find a couple of Arab guys and figured we would just assume all Arabs sound the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Assassin's Creed autosave as soon as you find a flag/kill a templar/find a high point/do something related to your main assassinations? So losing your progress in the game shouldn't be a problem.

Consoles are much better than computers when it comes to gaming.

IMO it depends entirely on the game. Some are better on PCs and some are better on consoles.

I've just found out that they're doing a DS version. gametrailers.com has a release date of Q1 2008 but that's about it.

I understand the desire for PC gaming, but on Assasin's Creed??? It wasn't even that awesome of a game, and was fine on the 360.
