I recently picked up the 20th anniversary of Heir to Empire and have been astounded at the quality. I’m a huge fan of audiobooks in the SW universe - sound effects, music, and voice acting makes it seem like another movie. The narrator does a good job too with each of the characterizations, voice inflections, etc. My question, are the others in the legends Thrawn series as well produced? Also, any you would recommend? Well the best audiobooks of the entire Thrawn Trilogy to me are the german audiobooks that used a full cast that included the voice actors for the german movie dubs of the OT for the original Big Three roles and more! There's nothing like hearing the Thrawn trilogy dialogue in original Luke, Leia, Han voices!
I'm a huge fan of the quality of Star Wars audiobooks now. To answer your question; the whole Legends Thrawn Trilogy *and* the Hand of Thrawn duology all exist in the same high quality format, and they are all excellent. Unfortunately, they're pretty much unique among 90s Legends books in having been made into proper audiobooks. Many others exist but only in abridged (and much lower budget) form. They stopped converting older books after the canon switch.
Aww bummer. Well at least there’s those! Thanks! Now I know what to buy next! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Thrawn Trilogy and Hand of Thrawn unabridged audiobooks have been terrific so far, the ones I've listened to. It's the same narrator for all of them, and I really like his voices for Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando. He sounds perfect as Luke, which is major. His rendering off Han sounds the least like the actual cast, actually, but he captures the energy and essence of Harrison Ford's performance. The only hiccup with the Thrawn trilogy was a Star Destroyer alarm sound effect, which sounded way too much like the USS Enterprise's red alert from classic 1960's Star Trek. That was a big no no for me, but it only happened once in Heir to the Empire as far as I can recall. Everything else about it was fantastic.
Epic. I’m so glad to hear that and totally agree about Han Solo. Hugely impressed with his voice acting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm really annoyed that the Thrawn Trilogy audiobooks aren't available on Audible (at least, not on the UK version). I'd love to revisit them on journeys. Guess they must just sell too well.
I personally think the Darth Plagueis audiobook is one of the best ever produced, as the narrator fits both the tone and the two main characters perfectly, plus it was all the high budget extra stuff you mention such as the music and sound effects, i highly recommend it, not sure if it is easy to get, though.
I’m actually creating a fan-made audiobook of Heir to the Empire right now. I’ve completed the first 6 chapters with more on the way! The playlist is available on YouTube.
