I think you'll find that long grass is home to raptors, not snakes.

Anyway, I'm just sayin, snakes are jerks. The last trouble she's had with it I know of was during CIV, though, as that leg collapsed on her somewhere during the con.

My brother just reminded me that I used to live in an area that had these types of spiders [face_worried]

Really hope that type hasnt ventured down this far, I have enough spiders and snakes to worry about without that thing attaching itself to my head.

Yes, but they are not fun to right through when tearing down a hill on your bike. Took forever to get all the strands off my face.

I just realised that I live less than half an hour from that particular spider. Although I'm more worried about the snakes. For the third time in two days I've almost stepped on a brown snake:mad: The snakes are really bad at the moment. Not really sure that I should venture out the door at the moment.

And, I found this picture of a spider eating a chicken, which is the closest I could find to the pics presented in that article.

Golden Orb Weaver? Pffft...that's nothing in comparison to the drop bears in the bush, the hoop snakes in the desert and the leaping great white sharks in Sydney Harbour.

    Then, there are our grasshoppers...

The one time I was in Australia during summer, the main news story that wasn't cricket was someone attacked by two sharks at once.

Shark attacks usually occur because people ignore the risks and swim or surf at shark prone beaches, usually in South Australia and Western Australia where Great Whites are known to frequent. Most popular beaches have netting and a good rule of thumb is, if the beach is not patrolled by lifeguards, DON'T SWIM THERE!!

Now with drop bears, all you have to do is smear yourself with Vegemite and you'll be as right as rain...
