So Markus and McFeely revealed in a recent interview that, at one point, Richard Rider as Nova was going to be introduced in Endgame. It was he and not Hulk that was going to stand in for the Silver Surfer's role in bringing news of Thanos to the Avengers on Earth. He would have been the last survivor of Xandar after Thanos attacked the Nova Corp to get the Power Stone. A possible Nova movie has been rumored for a while now but this is the strongest hint yet of Marvel's desire to bring him to the big screen.

Well, at one point the movie was supposed to open with Thanos attacking Xandar, but that sequence was cut.

I always assumed that, by leaving Xandar's attack off-screen, they basically opened the door for either Guardians 3 or a Nova film to use that as a prologue

Marcus and McFeely interview about who dies and who lives basically, some cool new tidbits, and justifications as to why characters lived or died (Thor and Hawkeye don't die because that isn't a good ending for them, Cap lives because he learns to get a life for himself, Tony dies because he makes the sacrifice play and he wouldn't stop, Black Widow erases the red from her ledger by going over the cliff and they took out the battle to make it more about her) but here's the eternal question that remains still unanswered

There were so many questions about the timeline and where Captain America lives with Peggy Carter, whether that’s an alternate timeline, whether he’s in our timeline. Is it good that people are still asking that, or do you feel like audiences are missing the obvious?

    McFeely: Oh, it’s great!

Markus: Yeah, that’s fine. Those are unsatisfied questions. Those are intrigued questions. I’m delighted at people still chewing over this thing. You know, if it’s, That’s stupid and I don’t like it and I’m talking about it because it was dumb, that’s one thing. But if it’s, I honestly don’t know, and it’s kind of cool to think about, that’s great.

In a way, it is reassuring that M&M did not think about the timeline, while I do not have issues with how character exits were written, the execution seemed off. Still, if that is what gets Falcon the shield, I’ll roll with it.

I am looking forward to Black Widow.

What I got from all the discussions and arguments and differing explanations of timelines and predestination paradoxes is, nobody knows how it works. Everyone is just guessing, and hoping that what they do will make everything turn out for the better. And there are still lots of possibilities open for other stories, offshoots and continuations all through the larger world-story.

rewatching Endgame on Disney+ for the 4k version and there's a really good summation of time travel that Banner says "I don't know, we're talking about time travel. Either all of it is a joke or none of it is!"

They missed an opportunity for a Doctor Who-related joke, especially with Karen Gillan in that scene when they're discussing time travel. Maybe Scott Lang says, "How about a police box," with Nebula merely glaring at him. :p

Joke would have been lost on most viewers tho.

And you're assuming the writers themselves actually know Who, which they might not. If they were British, absolutely.

Scott would not have said that, as police boxes were never a thing in the United States.

Which is why we get the Bill and Ted reference instead.

EDIT - Speaking of time travel....Alex Winter has curiously not aged a day in 28 years.

Meanwhile Keanu Reeves is still in John Wick mode.

dangit, yah, there totally should have been frost giants in there too. Why'd they pull the plug on that one? I guess a bunch of random wizards in the background is cheaper.

Why stop there? Throw in Nova Corps, the Kree, the Dark Elves, a few Extremis-enhanced soldiers, Dormammu, Fire Demons, a couple of Celestials, everyone deciding they want a piece of Thanos' purple scrotum-chin.

To borrow from Tony Stark.... "And you, big fella, you've managed to piss off every single one of them".

Ok then the Mods can edit/delete the post; and then explain to me what "UNTAGGED SPOILERS" actually means.

Why the need for spoilers at this point? The movie has been out for almost 9 months, and on DVD/Blu Ray for about 6 months.

Not to mention I just checked a few pages back and someone posted actual images of Stark wearing the Gauntlet.

Yeah. I mean it would have been more realistic given what we'd seen the Infinity Gauntlet do to both Thanos and Hulk (who are waaaay more durable than Tony) when all the gems were used in unison but seeing Tony mutilated in his dying moment ... you can't really do that scene with first Peter then Pepper if he has a dangling eyeball or half of his face charred off. It would have ruined it by completely overpowering the very subtle communication that was going on.

And it's just concept art. It's done to give a visual representation of ideas. Though sometimes I think artists also cut loose knowing full well there's next to no chance a particular representation would ever be used just as they draw or paint it but they can still inspire the visuals of the movie in smaller ways.

That's not my take. If they overdid it with the visuals on what he should've looked like after handling the Gauntlet, it'd have taken away from the emotional death scene where he's saying goodbye to Potts and Parker.
