If by "implied" you mean "directly stated during an extended scene designed for the purpose of delivering that exposition"... Knowledge of the comics is irrelevant to the subject (AFAIK, it's a scenario made for the film and not directly based on any single storyline- just combining elements from unrelated ones). Additionally, I don't think it was ever suggested that the staff was affecting Loki.
has Whedon confirmed that there'll be an extended cut on dvd ? was there an extended cut of the first one ? .
So I missed the boat on the "feminist ****-storm" referenced earlier in this thread. But then again, I'm not on Twitter and plan to stay away from it as long as I am able. But apparently a lot of people think Joss Whedon deleted his twitter account because of it. Did not know that either. According to Buzzfeed, Whedon disputes that notion.
that reminds me of the time in Avengers when Anakin sent a nuke through a space hole to knock out the droid control ship.
But even if everyone dies in Ragnarock, isn't the mythology that they all just come back to start the cycle over?
Yeah. JMS's run kicked off with the return of Thor and his mission to reawaken the Asgardians (of course the comics versions had their mortal alter egos ala Donald Blake, so the film version would have to be a somewhat different approach) in the wake of Civil War and Secret Invasion. Since the first film was inspired by facets of JMS's run (and the MCU in general being influenced by comics released in that era), I wouldn't be surprised to see them go that route- especially since it gives them a mechanism to recast the role if necessary.
Have to say, I agree with the execs on this. The cave sets up both Thor 3 and Infinity Wars - an important through line to what is probably going to be the finale of these Avengers' particular runs. That scene should have been fleshed out. Cut out the jarring Nat/Bruce romance and the head-scratching farm family and you can probably even add an extra Ultron scene along with the cave. I feel the villains and their plans deserve the screen time more that Mrs. Hawkeye and the kids. Sorry! (Still love you Hawkeye!)
I looked up this Andy Serkis person. This is the second thing I've seen him in. The other was Return of the King.
Does it matter? It isn't implied. It's spelled out when the Other reports to Thanos about what happened on Earth and then the teaser in the second film has him declare that he's had enough of incompetents and will handle things personally. As to why the Chitauri die, it was because they needed an ending and that was what was thought of. Penn's script wasn't used. Whedon started from scratch and Penn only received a credit due to WGA rules.
I don't understand how SateleNovelist can both complain about the movie being dumbed down at the same time as complaining about it not explicitly explaining things and only implying/hinting at them.
SateleNovelist11, you're over-analyzing, like you're expecting every comic book movie to The Dark Knight. That's not a realistic expectation. The Avengerverse is really well made fan service. You should loosen up and think about it in those terms.
i was thinking 'is that Andy Serkis? and has he been working out?" yeah i think they should have fleshed out the cave. i would have prefered to understand a few things more, and they could have left out the Hulk-Hulkbuster scene just on pure not-making-sense.
The point of the Hulk vs Iron Man fight is that Spoiler it re-enforces that it doesn't take much to compromise the Hulk, thus taking away Banner's ability to control the Hulk such as it is. It is what sets the stage for his quitting the team. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess. Thanos may exploit it or we'll get a merging of the Banner and Hulk personas.
JEDI-RISING said: ↑ they could have left out the Hulk-Hulkbuster scene Sure they could have. They also could have replaced all of the guns with t-shirt cannons and had everyone speaking Mandarin, but they didn't.
okay i'm outvoted i'm just saying i'm not the first one to say Tony fighting him caused more damage than if he'd just let him rampage for a minute and wander out of town.
Yeah, and when a crazed lunatic starts shooting people you can also just wait for him to run out of bullets instead of engaging him in a firefight to stop him, or when someone steals a car you can just wait till he runs out of gas......
