So I was Googling landscape pics of Iran a few days ago when I came across this: This surprised me, not because it's green and has mountains. The northern parts of Iran bordering the Caspian Sea are quite lush indeed, almost jungle-like, and Iran's landmass IS mostly mountains. What surprised me is that this is from a province called Chahar Mahal & Bakhtiari, which is to the southwest, in the middle of the more arid areas. What surprised me was that THIS region was green. Granted, you can see there are patches of bare ground even in the above pic, so it looks like the stuff that does grow there does it with some difficulty as well. It's nothing like the northern forests. But I thought it was all desert down there. I suppose the higher elevation of these areas gives them access to cooler damper air, but that's just a guess on my part.
Freeman is just snuggling up as close as he can and RGIII has an expression that even though he's smiling is like "Okay, this is awkward and just a tad bit creepy." Even creepier is this photo of John Mayer: Why does he have only one eye? Why?
This photograph is not mine. It was taken today at a spot relatively local to me, though. It's a bird called a Grasshopper Warbler - a summer visitor to the United Kingdom. It's very, very difficult to see. I've never successfully laid eyes on one. Not only do they spend almost all of their time skulking in deep vegetation, beautifully camouflaged, but they are capable of 'throwing their voice'. It means that even if the bird sounds like it's only a few feet away, pinpointing it's actual location is very difficult indeed. The call is a long, almost mechanical, unbroken, rattling whirr. It doesn't rise, or fall. Just starts and stops. Now, taking a good photograph of a big bird isn't easy (it really isn't), but photographing a small bird like this is very hard. Takes patience and skill. The photographer will only have had a few seconds to capture this image. The light is perfect, the pose is perfect, the background is perfect. So I know it may not look like much... but this is an extraordinary photograph.
i'm sorry guys, but i'm afraid that morgan freeman has been dead for years and there's been some seriously advanced "weekend at bernie's" stuff going on. we all know that someone else was answering for him in his reddit iama, and this was the picture they used for proof? people said it was photoshopped. looks to me like they stuck a piece of paper on a dead morgan freeman!
Reminds me of one of my favorite parts of Fantasia! And makes me almost wish I had a volcano near my house... almost
I can't look at this picture without thinking it's somehow of tom and Hugh Hefner. Actually, I really can't look at this picture at all.
