I reckon your friend and mine Bail Organa knew the whole Old Republic was going to hell. Just the whole subtle punching the concrete rail thing at the end of AOTC really gave it away. Pity the whole balcony didn't collapse....

 

That was just foreshadowing that he will have bigger focus in EpIII.

Though I doubt he really understands that it's Palpatine's fault that the Republic is crumbling.

Bail accidently destroying the balcony with his frustrated punch, and sending him and Palpatine et al plunging to their deaths would've been a CLASSIC.

yodamich, I agree with you all the way. Had it not have been for George wanting to show off how big his, aah, computer was, and not have made Ep 1 into that big colourful computer generated wad of walking catastrophe that was Jar Jar Binks, everyone could just have gotten on with life.

Darth_Bog, as I'm sure Bail was really annoyed that he didn't get a cape, the reason for his complete and utter disregard for Old Republic Coruscant architecture is as yet unknown. Perhaps he was just biffed that he wasn't a Jedi......or maybe Padme turned him down.

Master_Byrd, yes, that would be cool. Unfortunately, in the Star Wars universe, age slows down even a Jedi, unless he or she just happens to be hairy, green and approximately two and a half feet tall, in which case the world is at your claws.

Padme turned him down...now that's a distinct possibility. Anyway, Bail has to get married by the next movie--it'd be weird if he suddenly showed up with baby Leia at the end of Episode III without first getting a wife. What's he gonna tell his subjects: "I was playing around"?

 

Perhaps Bail just harbours an irrational grudge towards insects, and saw a little ant running across the balcony at the moment.

 

I have 2 questions about the balcony scene that maybe someone can help me with.

1)where is Jarjar, I beleive in the script it was he, Palpatine and Bail who were on the balcony. Even with those added, where is he? Above all others he should be there. Plus it'd be neice to see Jarjar a bit more in AOTC

2)How did Toonbuck torra end up ont he balcony but not witht he seperatist, wasn't she suppsoe to be in the geonisis meeting scene and have dialogue? why the last minute change of loyalties? Even in her OS databank entry it says "she sided with the engines of commerce during partisan issues that split the Senate."
