I don't see why. Unlike Nicholson, Ledger is actually playing the Joker, not Jack Nicholson in clown makeup. If there's any performance he needs to live up to/overcome, it's Mark Hamill's.

It doesn't sound like Ledger in the teaser, it sounds like The Joker. He might actually make this right.

"t starts out with the WB logo gracing the screen, followed by the DC logo and the Legendary pictures logo. The screen goes black.

It opens back up as a commercial paid for by the friends of Harvey Dent. We are shown shots of him talking, making public speeches, and walking in a suit, while a deep voice comes on and talks about Harvey Dent. A generic politician commercial.

What seems to be halfway through the commercial, it is interrupted by static, and blacks out. Out of nowhere a crystal clear image comes onto the screen of a blacked out man with large windows behind him. The camera slowly zooms in on him. He's talking (about what I won't say) and as he finishes he begins laughing. Lightning strikes, lighting up his face, as the laughter grows more manic. Cut to black.

The Batman Begins (now The Dark Knight's bat) emblem is shown with the words The Dark Knight. Then it says Summer 2008 and has the website at the bottom."

Just out of curiosity, but where exactly did you pull that out of?? There's no teaser like that?

Just 'watched' the teaser and it makes me want to have 2008 already be here. Heath Ledger sounds so different, nice and dark and crazy.

In terms of iconic movie characters in my generation, Heath's Joker will be right up there with Jack Sparrow, IMO.

Description of Footage Shown at Wizard Con:

-- The Joker looks terrifying. There is footage of him in interrogation with a voice over from Gordon, they can't find whatever it is they are looking for on him, "All he had in his pockets was lint, and a knife."

--There are explosions, shots of the batmobile, and what looks like a tube holding the bat costume rising from the floor.

-- There is a shot of the Joker walking down and apparently enflamed city street, laughing and firing what looked like a tommy gun, but really could have been another automatic rifle.

-- Bruce Wayne meets Harvey Dent for the first time,
Dent: "The famous Bruce Wayne, Rachel has told me all about you!"
    Wayne: "I hope not."

A lot of quick cuts, the batmobile exploding through a wall of flame, the joker holding Maggie Gyllenhal at knife point, and Batman kicking through the door in the interrogation room from the beginning of the clip, he lifts the Joker over his head and slams him on the table... HARD.

    AND THEN...

A coin flips onto a counter next to a glass on a bar, the bartender starts to pour the shot before looking up, his response, "Jesus, Harvey, I thought you were dead!"
A hand picks up the shot, and it is slammed off screen before Aaron Eckhart's voice answers, "Half."

Sounds badassed. And now, some news that will tie-in. Should've posted it in here as well, much sooner.

    BATMAN ANIME

    Targeted Audience:
Dual: Core fans and tween boys
    Rating: PG-13 (anticipated)

    Release:
2-4 weeks in advance of The Dark Knight film release.

    Overview:

Set in the period between BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT, this brand new adventure follows BATMAN as he unravels a mystery over six original stories done in the style of Japanese Anime. Each of the six original stories has been written by a highly respected screenwriter or comic book creator. The talent includes Academy Award nominee Josh Olsen (The History of Violence), screenwriter of the Blade films and Batman Begins David Goyer, and famed comic book writer Brian Azzarello, among others.

The Batman Anime DVD is viewed as a perfect companion piece to BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT. The original stories introduce a number of classic characters from the DC Comics BATMAN universe as well as following up on characters and storylines that were introduced in BATMAN BEGINS.

And the following is from Chicago's Wizard World Convention.

Then (Paul) Levitz revealed a new project that DC has been working with Warner Brothers on "for I guess about two years now."

"Things happen in Gotham, and there really isn't enough time to connect what goes on between the movies," he said, saying that there will be a six-part special Batman series that will be done anime style that will fill in the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. "Some of the most noted anime directors are being brought in to work on it and develop it, that will show what went on in Gotham in between the movies."

He said the name of the series is "still actively" being discussed. In fact, he said he had a meeting in an hour where several people would be discussing that name.

You think they'd move the release date up a bit. Probably too afraid of Indiana Jones.

    I'm a little nervous they'll play too much with Two-Face before 3
