Does anyone have the sound effect of Batman's (TAS) grappling hook being shot out? I wanna use it for my fan film. Now I know you guys are going to tell me that there has been threads already on finding sounds, but I can't find this one yet.And yes I did find the thread of the sound links, and nothing. Thanks

My god, nobody is going to have such a specific sound, nor will they find one for you. Why don't you ever take initiative and record or mix one yourself?

You know. Batman has gone through so many Grappling hook sound effects, it'd just as soon be easier to find a different one. I mean, you have so many things with Batman in them:

Batman (1960's): I believe they only used a firing grappling hook twice. I may be wrong.

The Batman Movie (1960's): Ok, no hook, but it was pretty frickin' hilarious.

Batman (1989): Uses it a few times. Sounds like a gun and then a zip cord.

Batman Returns: Sounds like a puff and twine on a pulley.

Batman Forever: You got me here, it's different from the first two though

Batman and Robin: I don't care how good this sound effect was, this was one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen, let's forget this ever happened to poor Batman, it didn't do the character justice.

Batman: The Animated Series: Sounds varied, but it was an awesome cartoon (one of my favorites, right up there with Eek the Cat, The Real Ghostbusters, The Tick, Spiderman, X-Men, and the Marvel Action hour. A straight A!

Batman/ Superman Adventures (after the WB screwed the look of the animation up and made it quick and crappy looking like a Powerpuff Girls episode with less jerky movement. The writing also stunk for this one. you got a free Superman cartoon attached, and those were pretty good, so I give it a lowercase c-

Superfriends: I never really watched this one, I found it cheesy. Braniac was funny though. I believe there was more of a ptooy sound effect in this one.

Justice League: Who writes this crap? Really, bring back the writers for the original series, or Mask of the Phantasm, this show is SOO aimed at a much younger audience. Still, the sound work is pretty good, a different sound here too.

Batman Beyond: I didn't expect much when I heard this was coming out, but it ended up being really cool. I don't think a grappling hook was used more than maybe three times during the whole airing of this show. It was kind of like a muffled gun shot and then a pulley with a zipping noise. There's a documentary on this series. They were trying to build hype. It didn't work, but none the less. This would make an incredible if it was true to the plot I think.

Anyway...as you can see, there've been plenty of instances where Batman has used a grappling hook. It's be better to get a gunshot poof sound followed by a zip or something.

    -Matt

Edit: Personally, I'd download a Jedi Knight(DF2) container manager, and then one of the numerous grappling hook mods off of one of the numerous JK mod sites, and work with the sound in the container. Either that or make use of the TV in out card: Hook up a VCR, hook a video game system to the VCR, record an audio clip from a game such as Zelda:eek:carina of Time.

I was going to say just that but I couldn't think of a good word for "poof."

So, mix your own sound, as I said.

Most of those grappling hook mods use the Seeker/Remote droid firing sound. So it's not really anything new. So if you had JK2 you could get the sound outta there since it's higher quality.

But I agree, just mix your own sound using gunshots and such.

EDIT: My god, nobody is going to have such a specific sound

I remember sombody asking for the chord that was played when Wile E. Cyote is introduced in the Bugs Bunny and Road Runner shorts. THAT was a specific sound. :p

I remember it, and my solution was to render that sound in a midi sequencer, which the kid (I think it was JediDrew) eventually did.

Clay Kronke has a sound in Brains and Steel, I believe.

Back to Batman: You know a series about young Bruce Wayne was dropped so they could produce Smallville and Birds of Prey... Ok, Smallville's doing fine, but aside from hot super chicks, Birds of Prey had nothing going for it. Anyway... Yeah, I know they were trying to be serious in the 60's, but come on, they had EVERYTHING they could possibly need in the batcave, and get this, they were ALL (frickin') LABELED! I love how Batman and Robin talk to each other.

Robin: Holy Heart Failure Batman, that was a close call!

BatMan: It's all right boy wonder, I diffused the bomb just in the nick of time, and sheilded myself behing this stack of iron poles.

    or:

Batman: All right boy wonder, let us sneak out inconspicuously through the window, using our BatRopes!

So Batman and robin go to sneak out of a WINDOW in the middle of a PEACE CONFRENCE 50 frickin' stories up...inconspicuously while wearing brightly colored spandex uniforms. I am surprised they didn't have their butts labeled. For goodness sakes, in the 60's movie he had Shark Repellent Bat Spray in the Bat copter... watch the movie, watch the old TV show, and tell me you didn't mistake it for a comedy.

    -Matt

(I exaggerate a little of course. The objective was to create a live action comic book. Still...EVERYTHING'S LABELED!)

the 1960's series as it would be played out today (I am So going to get this thread locked :D) :

Batman: Robin, I understand you're taking Batgirl out tonight. I don't support your wild teen activities, but since we good citizens like to practice safe sex, here's a Bat condom. In case the ol' "Bat-ering ram" starts thinking it's the brain......HAVE FUN!

The-Matt-Man: In the Batman movie, not only did they have Shark Repelant Bat Spray, but they had a whole case of it just sitting on the dash board of the BatCopter. Those guys know how to be prepared. And remember when robin has to hand the SPray to batman, he leaves the chopper completely unmanned and climbs down the rope to batman, so the chopper was flying itself i guess.

about that chord from the roadrunner show... i found it a clip from the beginning of one of the shows, extracted the audio and then sent it to him... however he may not have liked the quality (it was decent) and made a midi version using it as reference
