Mini Series Bazil the Tynnan

My new favorite character

 

So I was looking for a picture of dear Bazil and guess what I found out? There is a s a book around about a small rat having adventures and it is called

Spoiler: … wait for it…

“ The days and nights of Basil Tynan” ! Quite a coincidence that our character looks a bit like a rodent is called Bazil the Tynnan and is introduced in an episode called “Day” right? https://catinthefridge.com/2018/11/14/the-days-and-nights-of-basil-tynan-a-new-book-by-alana/. EDIT: the author seems to be credited in IMDb for some writing stuff in movies a few years ago so maybe she is in business and that’s where the name suggestion comes from?

 

More than a coincidence, I'd say. The next episode will most likely be "Night".
Bazil has dual identities..... Dr. Tracker and Mr. Darth.

 

Build-A-Bazil seems like an inevitable merchandising opportunity.

 

I like that we have no ****ing idea what Bazil says.

It’s just because your are too mainstream and did not take his language as elective at Jedi academy smph…

I do wonder if there is a reason he disappeared. I don't think he is a sith Lord but something might've happened..

You couldn't even sneak a fart around Bazil, which is the real reason the Jedi hate working with him.

 

I think Bazil's days may be numbered, as he’s definitely sussed out Mae.

Also, late to the party, but I think its amazing how they've bought over such an obscure old EU alien into live-action. I've always said they should look at the old Alien sourcebooks from West End Games. I hope there's more.

Was it Bazil who alerted Sol it was Mae not Osha ? I found confusing how the whole thing played out. Bazil clearly knew it wasn't Osha and maybe, with Pip, was behind the spaceship malfunction!

 

I thought Sol knew all along and was waiting to see what she’d do. Maybe he sensed she would escape.

back to Bazil. I feel bad for him. It’s like all his friends are gone.

 

It’s clear Sol knew all along. The episode underlined that.

Bazil found out, yes, but Sol already knew.

 

When he was trying to fight he was cute as hell

 

Totally pointless character put in there purely to sell toys.

 

well sign me up and take my money. He’ll join my Ewoks, gungans, bb-8, r2d2, yodas, grogus, Lola, b2emo, Jawas, porgs, d-o…

 

Bingo.

Why did the ship malfunction? Did I miss something? Was it Bazil or Sol?

From Sol's reaction to Mae's nonplussed response to "go fix it" that he knows it's not Osha.

 

Yup. It was clear he knew it wasn’t her when he told her to take the wheel, instead of asking her to reset the thingamajiggy.

As for the ship malfunctioning, I don’t know. But I wonder if it was deliberate Sol thing. Part of his ruse. We’ll see.

 

In any case, you could completely remove this character from the show and it has absolutely zero impact. In fact, it would actually make the show arguably better because it removes the whole stupidity of needing him for the forest except for every scene thereafter. He is not needed on the ship because one would assume Sol is not stupid enough to not know it is Mae. I mean Smilo Ren knew immediately it was Osha, so surely Sol is not being written to be dumber, he is supposed to be a master after all.
