ST BB-8 vs R2-D2 - which is the cooler droid ?

I'm a relative old-timer, going back to seeing Ep IV in the theater. But I gotta say, I think BB-8 is the cooler of the two. That design is just awesome in its simplicity and functionality.

 

Same here... Especially with the way BB-8 moves, with his head still balancing on the top of that ball... So cool!

And remember my former pilot Han Solo, in his usual gruff style, telling BB-8 to "move it, ball", when the droid was obstructing his way...

I love them both, but BB-8 was really funny and added some great humour into The Force Awakens.

I'm cuter, but I've gotta step up my droid game to be as useful as R2.

 

I have two dogs. Purdy and Gi-Gi. I had Purdy first and never thought I'd love another dog as much. But then I got Gi-Gi. I love them both equally.

My point? I can't choose - I love R2-D2 and BB-8 equally.

Poor R2. It's like what happens to the old teddy bear when the kid gets a new teddy bear for Christmas. They get so forgotten.

 

Like what happened to the Millennium Falcon, when she was left stranded and semi-rotten on Jakku? Until she was called garbage by Rey, haha!

R2d2 was a bit too much deus ex machina for me at times, but I still loved him. But sadly since r2 comes with c3po I have to choose bb8

 

BB8 is like the exuberant young kid, R2-D2 is the older and more wiseass one. It may be fun to see them interact.

 

Cooler? R2

Cuter? BB-8

I think R2 should have more screen time though since, Star Wars was originally intended be the story the Whills got from R2's databanks when they wrote the book of whills.

 

Where's the "They are both Equal" option?

 

Are we really going to do this? This is horrible. Like trying to decide which one of my thumbs I prefer.

I was a bit cynical about BB-8 during the trailer/teaser phase.

But from practically his first beeps I was sold sold sold. And he purrs...that's just not fair. I can't compete with that!

So far R2.
BB-8 didnt really have any scenes where he does anything.
He mostly just followed people around.

 

R2, because he is Luke's friend.
BB8 is also cool, but needs to be trained by R2.

 

they are both great but I have a preference for BB8
