LOS ANGELES -- Pop star Michael Jackson has been taken to UCLA Medical Center by ambulance suffering from cardiac arrest, fire officials confirm.

Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a 911 call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda says.

Jackson is renting a home in the Holmby Hills in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. It is about two minutes from the UCLA Medical Center.

Family members have been called and are on their way to UCLA, sources say.

UCLA officials are not releasing any details about the pop star's condition.

It has been. I didn't see that one coming. You think having all of those surgeries weakened his heart by how many times he was put under anesthesia?

I've never heard of him being big into drugs which sometimes causes cardiac arrest. I think he had some long term health issues here lately, though.

He was one..unique character, but I liked his music. Especially before he seemed to lose it.

Yeah I, along with many people I'm sure, enjoy his early work. As crass as it sounds, his death won't be a great loss to music since he long passed his prime. But still, sad news. @};-

    Cause of death: the boogie.

    Too early?

I'm blaming his death on the boogie.

Man my jokes are falling flat today.

Regardless of whether I liked him or not, it just feels...weird not having him there. He's sort of like the huge tree you have in the backyard and never pay attention to for years and years, until somebody comes along and cuts it down and you feel...like something's missing.

Anyway, his early music was fantastic. He's too complex and contradicted for me to form an opinion on the man himself, though. I guess this is what it felt like to lose Elvis.

    Rest in peace. @};-

    Matitunat Madness check: W00t?

    Michael Jackson died?
I am not srue that's good news to ehar first thing in the morning. I really like his music up to history. Afterwards not so much.

And just before the tour. I heard rumours it was too much exercises plus all kinds of meds to cope with the oncoming tour.

    Man, am I glad I didn't buy a ticket or what?[face_plain]

the tour was a publicity stunt to increase his popularity and cash flow before he faked his own death

    I love the internets: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8120324.stm

I saw that google error page at work when I clicked on Google news from iGoogle. I thought my computer had had a virus so I did a quick scan. [face_laugh]

Seems that the news has reached German radio stations.

They could have chosen a song I like better, though.

His death was in all the evening news, one of the channels is doing an impromptu documentation about his life and death.
Also, there were three more of his songs on the radio. More than you usually get in a week...
