Blink 182

Blink is no different than N'Crap and Backdoor Boys. Its all bubblegum and its all for money. I'm not interested in watered down, trend-punk.

 

But they are most of the crap that is out there today...

Funny? Yeah if you consider 30 year old guys making masturbation jokes funny....

 

I like them. My brother has some of their earlier albums. And I got "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket." If you like "Adam's Song" you should listen to "Stay Together For The Kids." It's has the same depressing/sad tone. I enjoy most of the album too.

 

I personally love them. They're talented, they're hilarious, and their music is, in a word, fun!

I don't understand why people think they suck just because they make it on TRL or whatever. I mean, plenty of other bands have been on TRL that are still considered "real" bands by most people. (Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Deftones, Foo Fighters, Eve 6, Green Day, Incubus, Orgy, No Doubt, Linkin Park, Rage Against The Machine, Santana, and Weezer have all been on TRL. Just some information for you.)

I am not supporting TRL, because I hate Carson Daly and I think he's an outright tool, but I'm just telling you for... future reference.

talented? Not at their instruments they aren't. Exept the drummer. He's the only one in the band that can play his instrument.

You couldn't have said it better. I play bass and on my first day of playing, I could play a Blink 182 song with ease. Tool on the other hand....

 

There is waaayyy better punk music than Blink 182... but I'll give them credit, they're pretty funny guys.

But I'd rather be listening to Flogging Molly.

 

I used to like blink182 in 9th grade, but now I don't. I think it's a matter of growing up, and wanting more substance and talent in the music.

Emuboy - How is flogging molly's new cd? I have the old one, and I hadn't heard anything about the new one.

 

My big problem with Blink 182 (other than their music) is that they've created a new kind of person - the WannaPunk. The WannaPunk is a person who, like the guys in Blink, thinks he's a punk even though he isn't. Their lack of substance and talent has caused people to have incredibly short attention spans when it comes to music, and, as mentioned above, I find their popularity:talent ratio to be disturbing.

 

Apparently they may turn up at the Green Day gig with SUM41 this July 19th, in Cardiff. Hope so. They're not confirmed as appearing but I've heard rumours...

 

Everytime I see Sugar Ray on TV, I think "wannapunk."

I've lost respect for Blink182, But I still respect Green Day and even the Offspring.

 

I still respect offspring from Smash. And because they had Pay The Man on Americana which redeemed that CD.

Conspiracy of One...it's okay. Million Miles Away seems like they are trying to recreate "Gone Away" same with some other songs.

I'm not a fan of Greenday but I respect them, mainly because they do not pretend to be anything. They said themselves "we are not punk".

I'm sure they're hilarious if you're 13 and just discovered what 'boobies' are.

You could sell breakfast cereal to almost all of their songs if you just changed to lyrics a little.

 

Blink 182 on the other hand blows goats for quarters.

I really don't see what the big deal is. SOme people like Blink, others hate them.

At least they're not as bad as bands like Mudvayne and Linkin Park.

Blink182? I'd rather listen to them than listen to most of the other crap thats today called music. Would I listen to them over the bands in my CD case right now? NO!

Its the same old debate...their old stuff is good and now their mallpunks, sellouts, annoying - whatever you want to call them. I call them annoying. I like the song "Girl at the Rock Show", but thats all on their new CD's.

Anyone here into hardcore punk? Or, for that matter, any other kinds of punk?

Blink are okay. Not my favourite band but I sure don't turn of the radio/TV when they come on. I've even got a few records... Best song? "New Hope" from the album "Dude Ranch"... needless to say why on these boards, right...

 

I am rocking out to A New Found Glory and Sum 41 at this very moment... simultaneously! [face_shocked]

Naw, MARK HOPPUS is best.

 

Their old drummer had some mad speed at his disposal. They came top Australia before they got big here and I saw them (they opened for Millencolin + No Fun At All, at the same show!), managed to crowd surf onto the stage and got dropped right in front of the kick drum, going flat out.

Fun stuff.
