I'd love for a Boba movie - he's amongst the coolest characters in the entire saga. I don't see it happening though as a standalone film, but I'd be very surprised if he didn't feature in the Han anthology film, probably as the main bad guy which he hasn't really been so far.

Except George Lucas, numerous times, has said that Boba survived. In fact, he said he wished he included a scene in RotJ with Boba crawling out of the Sarlacc.

No chance regarding the mantle stuff. Pablo Hidalgo pretty much shot that down.

I wonder how they would retcon how much of an unbelievable chump that Fett was in RotJ. Having the name and armor be a mantle is a great way to describe that the overrated Fett was just some chump who was lucky enough to have the armor.

I am sorry I would much rather have Fett be the biggest chump or whatever you want to call him then his name being a mantle which makes zero ******* sense IMO.

Well I am glad that the mantle rumor was shot down a long time ago.

He can't of been that overrated he tracked and was responsible for Vader capturing Han, Leia and Chewie on Cloud City. He evaded Lando and Chewie all the way from Bespin to Tatooine.

May be the Fett you see at Jabba's palace was goon in a replica suit that Jabba pays to make would be assassins think Boba's still around?

LOL, that's cool. I just can't shake the imagery provided by RotJ. Random Jabba thug shooting Luke in the hand did more damage than Fett did. On top of it, he was ousted like a punk lol.
That is what I am saying. They need to retcon what we last saw of Fett. They need to explain why he woke up that day and became utterly useless. A retcon is needed.

He was intoxicated, or at least hung over. Everyone at the palace had been partying for days.

That, along with Fett and Vader capturing Han and Leia by having Lando invite them to a fake dinner party, paints a really amusing picture of Boba's off-screen personality in my head.

They have the scope thanks to the different outfit between TESB and ANH (SE) and ROTJ.

The real Boba Fett with Vader on Cloud City.
The fake Fett on Tatooine with Jabba the Hutt.
And a promotional shot of the fake Fett, note the different belt and the lack of a hand blaster holstered to his right thigh.

With this film being all but confirmed, who do you guys want to direct?

I like Joe Johnston, just because he was a big part of Boba's creation and origin, and also because I really enjoyed Captain America: The First Avenger. Matt Reeves is another name who I think definitely deserves a shot at a Star Wars film, and has a great relationship with Abrams and Kennedy. Gareth Evans is very underrated, and with Disney getting actors from The Raid for The Force Awakens, I wouldn't be surprised if they nabbed this guy. I'd love to see his take on Fett. Another name I'll throw out there is Alex Garland. He wrote Dredd, who's titular character is quite similar to Boba in their motives and look, and directed Ex Machina, which I loved.

Would be delighted with any of these guys, tbh.

I find myself having a soft spot for Johnston, as well. Mostly because of his intimate knowledge (and hand in the creation) of the character. But also both because Joe has an obvious passion for Fett, and because he was the one who got me thinking about a Boba Fett movie years before anyone ever considered it a realistic possibility.

Yeah, I think he's a fine director. Better than people give him credit for. If the Han Solo film got Kasdan, I think this movie deserves Johnston. Give him a good script, and we're on to a good thing.

I love his passion for Boba, he's been wanting to make a movie on him for years, before Disney. I get they're going with the youth thing, but this should be the exception.

Damn, I forgot to mention Matthew Vaughn. Not only is he the perfect pick, I think he's the most realistic. Actually, if I had to bet, I'd say he's the director.

We know that Simon Kinberg is writing/producing, and Josh Trank, who worked with Kinberg on Fantastic Four, was the original pick. Since he's out, what about the super talented dude who also worked on Fantastic Four, rumoured to have filled in the director role after Trank left, Matthew Vaughn?

Loved Kick Ass, loved X-Men: First Class (best in the series, in my opinion), and loved Kingsman.

To add to his cause, MSW reported that Vaughn and Favreau were up for Trank's spot as director of the third Anthology film.

    Aftermath material;

"After looking through a stash of prized goods, the two come across a complete, battered set of Mandalorian armor, “picked and pocked by some sort of acid. It had been through hell and back.”
From the box, he withdraws a helmet. Pitted and pocked, as if with some kind of acid. But still– he raps his knuckles on it . The Mandalorians knew how to make armor, didn’t they? “Look at this,” he says, holding it up. “Mandalorian battle armor. Whole box. Complete set, by the looks of it. Been through hell and back. I think my boss will appreciate this.” (Aftermath)

Biased or not, Wendig kinda made it sound like he survived the ordeal. Either it has excellent stomach muscle control, or he called in Slave 1, and stripped to his flightsuit (or less...) as soon as he escaped, replacing it with a spare set. The equipment/color differences between ESB/RotJ pointing to it.

Then, ofcourse, there's that remote possibility he got spit out body and all, died for some reason despite being protected from acid, and rotted away to have the armor stripped from his corpse/bones by jawas. But you either keep the mystery alive until the grand reveal he survived (as many are probably expecting Disney to do), or let it remain up for debate until Disney has finally made up it's mind on what to do with him after RotJ. All i'm saying, he was largely protected by armor, he still had his jetpack, probably plenty of fuel, and more than enough weapons directly built into his suit or stashed in pockets to kill the beast from the inside...

But storywise, i wouldn't mind something that takes place at the height of his career, somewhere around ESB or earlier.

I think he survived because it takes a thousand years for the Sarlacc to digest its food.

hmmn... interesting if true. Especially since they just used Temura Morrison for the battlefront voice.

I'm certainly not against it but I can't really see how this would work.

He's probably just up for a different part and being as Boba Fett (lest we forget) is actually an villain then maybe Jordan is actually up for the part of the key protagonist who faces off against Fett?

If they don't even have a director on board, I can't imagine Lucasfilm would begin looking into casting or recasting the role. My dream director for this is Neill Blompkamp, even though he's pretty tied up with directing his Alien film.

I mean, they could theoretically have Michael B. Jordan play Boba. Just have the voice dubbed in by someone that actually sounds like Boba. But for that matter, I'm wondering why they don't get an actor that already has that down. Although he doesn't look like the established Boba, I guess the original trilogy proved that that isn't important, as we never saw Jeremy Bulloch's face. The only thing I would outright reject is the whole "fake Boba" or "decoy" idea. Are we really supposed to pay that much attention to a character that had such a minimal presence in ANH and ROTJ? I'm not asking that they constantly reinforce that Boba's a clone, but they can always take the OT approach and just don't mention it. No problem there.

I'm still hoping for Joe Johnson as director and Daniel Logan as Boba. These are the people who have actually been there and done that. As indifferent as I am to death-retcon post-ROTJ Boba, they might as well go the whole nine yards and get Bulloch back if it's going to take place in the same time period as TFA.

I don't know how they will pull the story off but I would watch a Michael B Jordan Boba Fett. Have you seen how intense he looked in the Creed trailer and he is a really good actor.

There's no way to cast Jordan as Boba Fett and not screw up the already established cannon.
