Is the original Mandalorian species still around?

The Mandalorians were a race of warriors, a grey skinned species.

And either were or were descended from the Taung race/species that originally lived on Coruscant before leaving after the Taung war with the Battalions of Zhell.

The Taung-Mandalorians apparently went extinct during the events between "The Sith War" and KotOR.

"Just" Human? I find that rather insulting.

I don't see it as insulting. Concidering he's a bad ass human, and was the first HUMAN Mandalore.

Think their was a fact file that has a little bit of Mando info saying that the LAST Mandalorian died only some few hundred years before TPM.

However that's just a fact file. The Species was still around during the Mandalorian Wars, and after as well. Though only few are left, if any.

According to the article in Insider #80, "it's largely conceded that the Mandalorian species itself all but vanished from the galaxy (after the Mandalorian Wars)"

I was refering to your use of the word "just", and the negative implication that could be derived from it.

Maybe the original Mandalorian interbred with the humans and others, just like the original Sith did with their ex-Jedi overlords?

That would be an interesting possibility. I've heard it rumoured somewhere that Jaster Mereel was of a special "pure Mandalorian" bloodline, the members of which tended to have white or pale grey skin and to be able to endure much greater physical damage than normal humans, as well as living far longer.

Kotor showed human mandalorians use drugs and stims to empower them above normal. so I believe no interbreeding did happen.

though it is an interesting possibility.

Hope Canderous broke them of that habit.

Yeah! . . . You never saw alien Mandos in the KOTORs, did you?

    Or females!

They'd almost have to. Survivability of the race...what with all the cross-galactic conquests prior to the New Sith Wars, this would've undoubtedly have taken place, as we see in real life with virtually every single large-scale occupational military force. It simply happens. Wouldn't shock me to learn that some of that tony goodness seeped into Jaster's genes from across the millennia; Togorian or Kerestian blood, maybe?

    "Hybrid vigour," and all that.

Well, many things are possible in Star Wars...but even this I find hard to swallow. It's pretty much indicated that the proto-Mandalorians, the Taung race, was descended from reptiles. Either that, or Taung were mammals with very reptilian characteristics.

Tich, I'm surprised Mr. Affermative Action. Jagi's back up for his duel with Canderous were Duro Mandalorians. ;)

Interspecies insemination? Absolutely possible, particularly in the SW universe...even the ancient Sith were quasi-reptiloid in makeup, which wouldn't necessarily rule out the likelihood of the Taung-ys or their remote descendants doing a rolleum-on-the-linoleum with some humans thither and yon.

(Hell, what with the overpopulation of Texan pan-sexual cowboys, you know SOME curiosity's inevitable.)

A good question for the "Sex and the force" thread. did the dark jedi use the "force" to force their swimmers to go for the gold?

In all fairness, how much sweat did Jagi's fight cost you, that I would remember his Duros Mandos? And who's to say they were Mando, and not just hired help, though I would ask what help?

Boba Fett killed him for A. Using Boba's reputation to get jobs and B. Threatening Boba's scheme of laying low and pretending to be dead post-RotJ.
