Hello folks. I had this dream of a motion control rig. Basically just a miniature railway with a machine on it that always moves at the same speed so I can mount the camera on it and get the exact same shot (of a model infront of a bluescreen) and (of a model lit beautyfully infront of black). Using the first one for an alpha matte and the second one for the final compo migth get me good results. The only question is:

How do I make a 2 feet rig with a thing that always moves at the same speed and that doesn't shake???

Okay... Isn't there a simple way to have just ONE damn rotator on the bottom of a rather heavy (for the steadyness) carrier to run from A to B on two steel rails that are mounted on a very heavy device (for the steadyness) ?

I think the most expensive part will be the rotator. I think I can do this... with 100 euros.

Didn't Ryan_W do something similair to this with lego servo motors?

Why dont you just use a dolly... then use the greenscreen for what its for?

    Just an idea. :)

Yes, Ryan did that with Lego servo motors. I used a lego railway for camera tracks (back and forth) to shoot spaceships infront of bluescreen. The keying didn't really work out very professional so this time I want to shoot the exact same shot (same speed, so the ship is at the exact same position in every shot's equivalent frame) several times so I can light it differently every time. So I would make a greenscreen shot and a beauty shot and layer them on top of each other so I have a nicely keyed AND nicely lit spacecraft in the end. Dolly is not an option because of the speed issue.
