C3PO's Silver Leg in the New DVD Trilogy Release

I don't know if anyone has posted this but has anyone noticed that in the new DVD Trilogy ESB, Threepio's right leg, from the knee down, is silver.

I can only imagine that Lucas has put that in intentionally to coincide with events in EP3. What are your thoughts?

Yup, always silver, we only see it a little clearer now.

 

It was always silver, but you can see it a little better in the widescreen edition and stuff. You can't notice it as easily in the old VHS tapes, it took me a few watchings to see the scenes where you could clearly tell his leg was silver.

 

Is it also silver in the ANH award ceremony where he is a cleaned up? Or is it just during the scenes where he is out and about?

 

It was always silver. Lucas wanted to show a "used" world. Up to then all movies involving space adventures were shiny and clean.

Yeah, weird that I never noticed it until now. I usually have a good eye for small detail. I didn't know if it was just something I missed or something GL threw in there to make up part of something to be seen in EP3. Gives me another reason to go back and watch ANH and ROTJ.

 

It's always silver, except in ESB when R2 is fixing Threepio, his leg is magically gold.

 

I actually didn't notice this for the first time while watching the movies either. The first time that I noticed that Threepio had one silver leg was when I was looking at a particular action figure.
