Yeah, it's a lot of info. Even those eShop games looked fun (that octopus father one in particular looks hilarious). Hard to sort out the U & 3DS news from one another at the moment, but still...

Don't forget Mario Kart 8 200cc! And more Mii player costumes (I will be racing dressed as Mega Man, in the Blue Falcon, from now on). Oh, and costumes in Smash will also include Mega Man X and Protoman costumes! HELL. YEAH. That'll do. Oh, and they're opening up an online suggestion box for future Smash DLC fighters! That's actually pretty powerful once you consider that getting a character into Smash means they will likely also become an Amiibo!

I was really impressed by just how much love Fire Emblem got- for a series that was on the brink of complete mothballing before Awakening hit it big, you have the SMTXFE (whichis apparently called "Illusory Revelations #FE"?), the next FE game proper (I love the split storyline possibilities for the story- trying to change an evil empire from within is certainly a different approach) plus the Project STEAM Amiibo bonuses.

And they're finally bringing Fatal Frame over stateside. The Wii U works so well with the horror genre and all the videos I've seen for the game really make it look creepy- and I'm going to need a new horror game once I eventually finish ZombiU,

On top of that, the randomized Amiibo demo stages via free app, the first Amiibo cards via Animal Crossing, the added Amiibo range to MK8, improvements for Codename STEAM, an Attack on Titan 3DS game (plus two free episodes of the anime in the eShop), lots of custom controller options for N64 & DS games,

    New Amiibo list:

    5/28: Greninja, Jigglypuff
6/11: Zero Suit Samus, Ganondirf, Paluntena, Dark Pit
7/XX: Dr Mario, Olimar, Bowser Jr.
TBA: MewTwo, Lucas, Three colors of Wooly World wool Yoshis.

Also, GameStop tweeted that Ness will be a GS exclusive and preorders go on sale online and in-stores at 2PM CT thursday.

They also had a new trailer for XBC 3D and the Japanese Direct also debuted a new trailer for Bravely Second.

EDIT- OH! And two new Streetpass games!!!

I used coins to get Super Mario 64 a few days ago! But I don't mind paying 2 dollars to play it in bed on my gamepad. :D

So glad N64 games are finally on the Wii U VC!

I too am excited about the N64 games although I have 2 of the 3 scheduled for release already. And I don't know how interested I'd be in Paper Mario.

I'm really pumped for Mario Kart DLC, SMTxFE and Fatal Frame as well

I am still trying to properly formulate how disappointed I am by that SMT x FE project turning out to be whatever the hell that thing is. I wanted demons punching dragons while arguing about morality, is that really so much to ask? Apparently. It's especially weird considering the regular upcoming SMT and FE installments look great.

    Oh well.

Edit: The worst part is that I think like 100% of my disappointment could have been avoided if they had just correctly referred to it as a joint project and not made it sound like a crossover from the get-go.

I decided to finally upgrade most of my VC games to the U's VC (well, the fee that are available), since Best Buy had eShop cards at 10% off I figured why not?

But it seems the NES emulator they use has a problem I hadn't heard of before- the audio feeding through the TV is horrible, particularly the low-end sound and music. It even almost drops out at times. Yet the audio plays fine from the Gamepad- and the system us hooked directly to the TV so it's not an issue of a receiver having problems.

And it's just the U NES games, not SNES or even NES in Wii Mode. I'm gonna have to look into this.

EDIT- Found the solution: you need to have the audio output set to Stereo, not Surround.

Amiibo update: Smash Wave 4 and Splatoon go on preorder today. The GS preorder is in store only via web at 3pmEST, with online store later today.

Also Greninja will be a TRU exclusive and goes on preorder tomorrow.

Jigglypuff will be a Target exclusive.

EDIT- And Jigglypuff sold out in 3 min long before I even knew he was on sale.

Couldn't get to GS until 4:30. Lucina & Robin sold out in 45 min, Wario shortly before I got there.

EDIT 2- Apparently the amount of server traffic from the simultaneous nationwide preorder generated mire traffic in 1.5 hours than Black Friday, resulting in effectively shutting down Gamestop for that period of time as their registers and websites went down as a result. Some people who were first in line couldn't get all the Amiibos because they were sold out by time their order processed.

TRU put up their preorder around 2:30-3am- 4 hours earlier than expected. So people who got up early to preorder found preorders sold out by then.

Sigh. There's still Amazon I suppose...

Played Smash Bros single player on the Game Pad (still can't get over how awesome it is to play your game while someone else is watching TV), and I just could not beat the giant hand of radical death.

I was using Twilight Princess Link, and I flew through every previous opponent with so little difficulty that the Hand's resistance really caught me off g we. :(

Yeah, Master Hand isn't a push over.

Also, it seems the Amiibo situation is simply Nintendo imitating... themselves:

Heads up to check your emails for the download code for Mewtwo… for those that registered both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game on Club Nintendo. Did a couple of test rounds on both the 3DS and Wii U and feels like the Mewtwo we all know except with a few tweaks and the final smash and such. They also got the additional costumes and such but I'm not going to bother with those at the moment.

The Mario Kart 8 update is out next week.

Mario Kart update is lots of fun with the new maps and 200cc is insanely fast.

Did anyone watch the Splatoon Direct?

The game looks like fun and has so much potential. So many puns and play on words in the direct too.

Don't think I'll be able to get Splatoon at launch- need to buy an external HD first because DKCTF & MK 8 DLC2 (and Pikmin 3 from the MK 8 free game offer) took up the last of my internal drive.

The internal HD size would probably have never been a problem since I would never go digital with full retail games normally but I couldn't have anticipated all the great digital freebies over the past year.

Yeah, I had to juggle things between my internal and external… got to the point now where I keep it all hooked up together.

I am very tempted to get Splatoon, just not sure whether at launch or later down the track. I'm starting to have quite a backlog growing and don't want it to be one of those games that gets played for a couple of days and then goes dormant until special occasions or when I've cleared out more of the backlog.

On the Amiibo side of things, I'm unsure if I will get it for Splatoon. I've already got the next set on order (Palutena, Dark Pit, Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus and the Yoshi's yarn ones). I will say that the Lucina one looks amazing and I got her posing next to Link.

So, as previously mentioned, I have a black deluxe Wii U. Six months old.

Yesterday, when starting up the game pad, there was an error message saying that I needed to change my TV input to the Wii U HDMI port (this has never been requested before). I did so, only to find out that the game pad was somehow no longer synched to the console. I syched them...only to be brought to the original set up menus when first unboxing and starting a Wii U for the first time.

My profile, game data, downloaded content (free content) was all gone.

    Wth happened?

Ouch, I have no idea. Haven't heard of that happening. Bad internal drive, maybe?

Did you inadvertently do a factory reset? That's what it sounds like to me. (Don't have a Wii so it's just a guess.)

Hmm....my daughter plays on the Game Pad. I wonder if it's possible to do a reset from the game pad without directly interfacing with the console itself.

There is a delete system memory option under settings, IIRC- that could be accessed through the GP. Not sure how that'd affect the GP sync afterwards.

Hmmm… doesn't it remind you of that '89 film; The Wizard?

Tried out the 2nd Splatoon Global Testfire demo yesterday- the game is really fun, though I'm still working on the timing and controls for attacking other players because I got my butt handed to me almost constantly. That said, I'm pretty mean with the paint roller .

However, server issues did get in the way- clearly having everyone in the world try to logon to play the game at the same time in the same one hour span of time results in maxxed out servers.

I participated in 2 of the 3 Testfire sessions from the first set, didn't get to do the last one due to having to be elsewhere. I found it fun too, did the tutorials twice to get a better handled on the controls. I think you might have been up against veterans from that first match as we were all new that first time around. There seems to be a good balance with the weapons. The roller is more close quarter, etc. I tend to stick to the default one as a good all rounder.

Really tempted to get it at launch though probably should wait till next month eases up as I've got LEGO Jurassic World, Yoshi's Woolly World and a set of Amiibo on order.

Theres another reason to love Mario Kart 8

For those that might have missed the small direct. More characters, stages, costumes and Amiibo. Plus Tourney mode coming around August
