Can you actually get toasters that launch the toasted toast into mid-air so you can try to catch it?

Everton, sometimes the phone rings, which can be a distraction. It makes you take your eye off of the toast.

Pyrus, not so much placing the children in the toaster, as much as having the toast fly out and burn the children upon hitting them, then getting dirty upon hitting the floor. Then you're stuck with eating dirty toast, while enduring the whining of burnt children. Terrible way to start off the day.

    I wish. I'd have one. I'd do a dive with a special toast-catching mitt.

My nan used to have one that did this, launch the toast in the air that is, but she had an old toaster and it wasn't specifcallyt designed for airborn toast.

usually it would hit the ceiling and if you had the plate in the right spot it would land straight on it.

Oh, yes! I've just discovered what I want for my birthday. You could work out and eat breakfast at the same time . . . you know, by leaping for the toast. [face_dancing]

But like I said, you don't really know which toaster will do that and the one that did that for me was very old.

And it's not as if you can test them by bringing your own bread to the shop when you buy. Sounds like some thing The Chaser would do. ;)

If I ever get engaged, I'm going to take bread to whatever store I plan to register at, and insist upon testing all of the toasters. I will announce that a toast-ejection height of less than 2 yards (1.83 meters) is simply unacceptable.

Also, I don't want a coffee machine that just drizzles the coffee out. I want one that ejects the coffee at a force of at least 1600 PSI. That way we could use it to power-wash the trailer's vinyl siding when we weren't using it to make coffee.

There are probably some reasons why I'll never get married, but if I ever do: Best. Kitchen. Ever.

All toasters are capable of this, only when no one is around.

I know this becuase I once had a toaster that every time I used it and left the room the toast was on the counter when I came back in. If I was there to watch, it only popped up, never out. o_O

Why would you want your toaster to do that in the first place? Seems like a hassle to try and catch the bread :p

Damn! Everyone has awesome toasters but me! [face_frustrated]

Leona, your toaster was clearly possessed, and as an X-Files fan I am officially jealous.

My toaster just likes to grab onto the crispy edges of bagels or thick pieces of bread, and trap them in its little toastery inferno until they burn to an unrecognizable cinder. :(

My toast has been known to hit the fan.

    Or the floor, rather.

There is a technique to doing this with an everyday toaster. Hold the plate in one hand and push the eject lever up quickly, sliding the plate under the toast just as it clears the toaster.
