I love clean cover art as much as anyone, but this makes me really miss the days when comic book covers were festooned with that ever-lovin' Mighty Marvel Hyperbole. And the Resistance will now and forever be known as the Righteous Resistance, at least as far as I'm concerned.
Comics in general, especially Marvel ones, do need more captions on covers (the Marvel ones were pretty much the best). They still do 'em but they're almost entirely just variants.
Yeah they just made books feel so much more epic. Even tiny simple white blocks stating the title like To the downright epic
The Homage cover is nice, but this last one is my favorite of the covers we've seen. Did we really need 3 cute/humorous covers? It seems entirely excessive, but I guess that is where Marvel is at these days. I didn't even know what a Funko was until I looked it up. Are they paying Marvel for advertising their product on the front cover of the comic? That's a prime location for an ad.
Seems this will be the closest time between the single issues and the TPB. The TPB is scheduled for November!
The standard, homage and Starkiller beam covers are wonderful. I'm pretty hyped for this book; I believe that the Phasma hype is finally going to pay off between this series, the novel and TLJ.
The guy at the comic store I go to looked up this series for me and it seems all he has listed is the TPB but the single issues are not on the schedule yet. Which seems odd because the first issue looks like it is supposed to come out in a couple weeks. Wonder if the single issues aren't coming out in hard copy form or if since this is part of the TLJ special the single issues would be under a different category.
Do you know what he looked up specifically? Issues will be on sale in stores next month! The full title is JOURNEY TO STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI - CAPTAIN PHASMA 1
Not sure exactly what he typed in to search for it but I believe he searched under Phasma and also The Last Jedi. I'll ask him to type in Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi-Captain Phasma next Wednesday when I go to pick up the issues released on 8/30. Thanks Heather.
Do I REALLY need to be all that concerned about Phasma's "raw, pulsating power"? I mean, who am I supposed to be, Tormund Giantsbane?
Phasma remains true to her character as shown in her recent novel in this issue Spoiler As soon as she's free of the trash compactor her first order (pardon the pun) of business is to erase the records of her lowering star killer's shields. However she discovers that a young Lieutenant may have already seen those records so she sets off to assassinate the unlucky officer by reporting that he was the one who lowered the bases shields + Loved the art + Phasma came across duplicitous and dangerous just like in the novel - Obligatory Kylo Ren Vs Rey appearance - Doesn't actually detail how Phasma actually escaped the trash compactor
Spoiler Great issue, loved following her through the exploding base - did she know she was sentencing those Stormtroopers to death by ordering them to remain at their posts? She is such a glorious scumbag, knowing exactly what she needed to do to cover herself. I tweeted Kelly Thompson to ask if that was BB-9E, or some random BB unit.
