Went mining for a new quote sig. I like the ones I picked but I very nearly went with this one as well- "You know what's funny about death? I mean other than absolutely nothing at all? You'd think we could remember finding out we weren't immortal. Sometimes I see children sobbing at airports and I think, 'Aww. They've just been told.'"
2016 can go perform the anatomical impossible act of your choosing. We'll miss you, Princess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The second I saw the banner I knew. Just .... I don't think it's sunk in yet. You'll be missed Carrie.
There is no death, there is the force, rip royalty of Alderaan, mother of Jaina, Jacen, Anakin matriarch of the Solo line.
Watching the Christmas episode of "8 Out of 10 Cats," I may have broken down when Jimmy Carr asked Carrie what her plans for Christmas were (this was one of her final TV appearances, recorded last week). She was hilarious, as always.
There are a few blogs I'm on that're completely unrelated to Star Wars but will naturally talk about newsworthy events like this. All through today, I was happy to read multiple women on several different blogs all saying "RIP" and adding that they really loved Leia because when they were kids she was the first female character in that mold that they'd ever seen - a princess who wasn't just passively waiting to be saved but actively participated in her own rescuing, who was allowed to outdo her male peers from time to time, who was allowed to be a leader as well as take part in the action, who was allowed to be snarky and witty, who was allowed to walk off walk off with the bad boy rather than be the hero's designated love interest... Yeah, she definitely made quite an impression on a lot of people she never met.
I just... don't know what to say. Of all the celebrities, entertainers, and actors that passed away this year, this one hurts the most. RIP Carrie
Those pictures above of her force ghost comforting Luke were the first ones of all the tributes I've seen since yesterday that actually made me teary-eyed.
You know, Carrie's performance was one the things, if not the main thing, that made me fall in love with Star Wars when I first watched A New Hope at the age of 8. I don't usually shed a tear over a celebrity's passing (although I still may be sad), but this is different. A few years ago, I was in a drugstore, where I had come to buy ointment for my burnt hand. When a little girl asked me why my hand was burnt, I told her I had been fighting a dragon in the city of Mons (which was true form a certain POV). She then told me that I must be prince, since I fought a dragon. I then retorted to her that you needn't be a prince, or a man at all, to be warrior. "Have you ever seen Star Wars? There's a warrior princess in it, you know. You too can beat dragons if you want." And yes, she had seen Carrie in Star Wars, and that brought a smile to her face.
Carrie was not that enthused about returning to do TFA and she seemed less than happy on screen. In retrospect I'm now glad she did do it. It's also going to make E8 very bittersweet watching her scenes.
The news were so unexpected and so sudden, I wasn't prepared for it. First time an actor's death made me cry, but I think that's because Carrie is more than actor to me. She feels like family. Even though I never met her. Then I come to this thread with so many wonderful posts from users here and now I feel like crying again.
