Way back when in interviews Hamill said he and George had discussed Luke turning to the Dark Side with more movies. They made a point that he was much like Vader though Luke resisted in the end, it was there waiting to happen out of pure futility over his situation. Now he is is quite depressed and living in isolation and possibly Leia gets killed. Down he falls.

 

Luke and Leia will never turn to the Dark Side, they are incorruptible, and represent what Anakin should have been, while Ben is repeating his grandfather's mistakes.

I'm completely optimistic. I believe there will be slight tweaks to the IX script. As much as I wanted Fisher running around and firing blasters, I suspect her scenes were always going to be more sedentary anyway. I think VIII will stay largely the same, and they will get as creative as possible to stick to the IX story as possible and with Fisher. I don't think she was going to die because I always suspected Harrison Ford would return for at least one scene as a ghost to Luke and Leia. I think there will be plenty of material to work with, that yeah will have to be altered digitally a bit, but still give us a Fisher performance in the finale.

 

I'm not sure what they are going to do in terms of episode 8 and 9, because if she died in episode 8 that would be really really hard to watch as a fan of Carrie, and the characters, but now they can't just say oh Leia is away on some mission and never mention her again she is a huge character and a huge part of the franchise. So i'm honestly not sure what they are going to do it is going to effect the story because she had such a huge role, if she did die, i would want to see her as a force ghost, but honestly this is going to be such a hard decision story wise to wha they do.

I don't see Han Solo as the ghost type -- flashback maybe. About what they'll do in the next two movies ..... I guess they're supposed to meet with the director about it next week. The possibilities do include casting another actress in the Princess Leia role, though it would be very hard on whoever they might pick.

 

I don't think they mean confrontation from a literal sense or just that they meet up. Of course, we don't even know that's true.

So now Pablo says that article may be bunk and the writers are NOT meeting to discuss this? I mean-WTF.

 

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that Portman is not interested in returning to the Star Wars cast.

They probably are meeting to discuss it. It's not like Pablo's going to say outright. "Yep, we sure are." He has to keep quiet, that's what professionals do. It's along the same lines of people asking him stuff about VIII and IX. He's not going to spoil a single thing, even though he has no doubt already read the scripts for them.

 

ya, the movies already explain how the force ghost were made possible (which was a mistake in my opinion, it was better left unanswered) by Qui Gon developing a technique to make is presence know from within the force. So going by their explanation only a trained Jedi would be able to do this.

 

^ Yup. THIS. With all the damage control fluttering about Rogue One, they do not want a repeat of that press. More importantly, I am sure they want to do whatever they can to honor Carrie and Leia.

That Force Ghost stuff is... To put it eloquently, dumb. I think the power of Ford's star power trumps any Jedi training. If they want him as a vision to Luke and/or Leia and/or Kylo, I don't think they'll pay attention to any rules. I like the simplicity of love triumphs over all in this universe and Han is with them always.

For what its worth, it sounded like a meeting between KK and Colin, no mention of the story group. So I don't think Pablo is lying...they just aren't in on the meeting yet.
