SWC19 Celebration 2019 Exclusives

Slightly off the current topic, but I think I realize what's bugging me about the announced list of exclusives. Much of it just seems generic, especially the Funko Pops. Hasbro did well with the Black Series Episode I figures as it's the 20th anniversary of Episode I. But, considering Rebels ended and Clone Wars is back, I'm kind of surprised we didn't get something cool and specific to the animated series.

With the Funko's, Darth Maul and Watto are acceptable additions (even though Maul has had multiple figures), but it would have been cool to have a couple of cool Clone Wars Pop's or maybe something from Rebels like Agent Kallus to celebrate that series ending since there was no Celebration last year. I'm just not seeing much from those properties in any of the exclusive merch.

 

Oh God. That will be a nightmare. It seems more likely than not too.

 

Yeah, Funko was really lazy with just doing repaints. Orlando's lineup was so much better.

 

Got all three emails now, two of each for some reason.

 

Just got the two in rapid succession, with 4 emails for Hasbro and 3 for LEGO. Edit: make it a 4th LEGO 20 minutes separated from the rest

 

Well...no one's going to top *that* lmao

 

This is all making me look forward to Friday....

It wasn't just Funko. I was disappointed with what Kotobukiya (which I have a small collection) is offering this year too. Last celebration, they came out with roughly 5 figures including Triple Zero and BT-1. This year, it's 2 random astromech's and nothing else. Honestly, there is probably nothing in the list of exclusives that I need to buy this year. Ironic. The last few Celebrations, I've wanted multiple items to the point where I've later bought them on Ebay. This year, I'm going and there's nothing I want.

 

Since you're competing with them, wouldn't a more appropriate GIF be:

It really is shocking. In the time since Celebration 2017 we've had:

-Rebels ending
-Resistance aired an entire season
-The Last Jedi
-Solo
-Star Wars Battlefront 2's campaign mode
-The Clone Wars Revived
-Dozens of books and comics
-The Phantom Menace 20th anniversary

And the most they could do is a Maul and Watto, along with making existing molds for other pops chrome. Hasbro is one thing, but Funko has been the last bastion for getting tons of characters out quickly. I was REALLY hopeful for this years celebration. The amount of figures they could have made is mind-blowing.

Smugglers Bounty has gotten increasingly lazy too. Makes me wonder how the license is going for funko.

 

I agree. With Funko, I was hoping for a

-Rebels Agent Kallus (Imperial and/or rebel)
-Rebels Ahsoka in White Jedi Robes
-Something from the new Clone Wars Season

I was expecting Kotobukiya to do a BB-9E and a few more astromechs. Instead we just got a 2 pack astromech repaint.

It's all just so paint by numbers and uninspired. But, my wallet will thank me. There literally isn't a single exclusive across any line that I need to own right now.

Welp, I *absolutely* need that Crimson Dawn ring at the very least. Happy to see some Solo merch.

 

Really like the pins, the crimson Dawn ring, and the replica of padmes necklace!
