Hello everyone I have always wonder as some of you probably have on pronunciations of some of the star wars characters' names and I'm sure some of you out there know the real way to pronounce these characters. some of them I'm pretty sure that I'm pronouncing correctly other I'm unsure

Anyways here are a few that I am having a debate on, with friends and family and have no sure way of proving one way or another. You know some people unless it's in the movies or george lucas himself pronounces it then they just won't believe you. And after a while it gets tiring when you talk about star wars and all they want to do is correct you on what think it should sound like. I just want to know if I am infact pronouncing some them right and others I have no idea.

    jaina solo
    jacen solo
    exar kun
    prince xizor
    saelt-marae
    horox ryder
    melee
    tzizvvt
    shaak ti
    ask aak
    fema baab
    fiolla

    Thanks for the help

Xizor is the only one I had trouble with. I think I eventually found a source that told me to pronounce it "sheezor", though.

Shaak Ti is spoken in the Clone Wars cartoons and in a deleted scene on the RotS DVD

    Jacen is basically Jason
(only, I refuse to call im that and make it Jah-sen, even if it's 'wrong')

I'd say the rest is pretty straightforward (except tzizvvt - and I thought Skynxnex was hard to pronounce)

    saelt-marae - Saalt-Maraa
    horox ryder - (W)Hor(e)-Ox
    melee - Mey-ley
    tzizvvt - Tziz-ut (Tz = Czar/Tsar)
    shaak ti - Shok Tee
    ask aak - Ask Ark
    fema baab (Fe-Ma Barb)
    fiolla (Fee-oll-ah)

That's how I mainly do it.

    "Eesard"

Doesn't it have to be eye-zard because they turn it into Iceheart? ;)

Until this thread I have never thought about the fact that Isard can sound as iceheart.

Me neither. I always pronounced it Ee-zanne Is-'ard.

This is the one I always struggled with:

    Zsinj

For some reason I always pronounce it like Zjinkx :p

It's fun to massacre names! Here's how I've always ripped them apart...

    jaina solo - JAY-nuh
    jacen solo - JAY-sen
    exar kun - EK-zar koon
prince xizor - originally I pronounced it ZEE-zor, until I read somewhere it was SHEE-zor as mentioned above
    saelt-marae - SAY-elt muh-RAY - now that's butchering it!
    horox ryder - HOR-ox RYE-der
    melee - MAY-lay
    tzizvvt - TSI-zvit - Ack. That's always a tough one.
    shaak ti - SHACK tee
ask aak - ASK awk (you know, like the sound in the word bazaar...)
    fema baab - FEE-muh bawb
    fiolla - FEE-yowla

Certainly we can find more names we have troubles pronouncing? I know I do!
