Get their live DVD and live CD for Farewell, it's amazing! I never got to see them in concert but I did get to see John Schlitt in concert and it was pretty rad.

Todd Agnew rules. He's the coolest in what I consider commercial Christian Music. Chris Tomlin is pretty cool also.

Some non commercial bands that rule are

    Tortured Conscience
    Mortification
    Scourged Flesh
    Antestor
    Crimson Thorn
    Encryptor
    Living Sacrifice
    Mortal Treason
    Illuminandi
    Acoustic torment
    Lo ruhamah
    Lament
    Ceremonial Sacred

We could sit here all day naming christian bands and artists, then there's the christian record labels.

Cool, I'll admit to straying a bit from Christian Rock with marching band starting up and my slightly new found obsession with the Noter Dame Marching Band. Uh...I don't know I've got nothing...and that's what I get for listining to the Scarlet Pimpernel and Wicked instead of the radio.

    Bruce Cockburn?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Cockburn

This raises the lone issue I have with so-called "Christian" music. Just because the artists are Christian does not make the music Christian. I understand that there's some room for debate in there, but that's just my opinion.

I'm not trying to flame or troll, but I thought this would be an interesting issue for discussion.

And that is why the label 'Christian' is as ludicrous as any other label when applied to music. Non-Christian artists deal with Christian themes; Christian artists deal with non-Christian themes. The end.

Bob Dylan has a Christian-themed album (or two). This does not make him a Christian artist, however.

Does anyone listen to KLOVE? I do!

I LOVE Christina music, and this year I've even been to two Christian Music festivals: Alive festival in Canal Fulton, Ohio and the World Pulse Festival in South Bend, Indiana. Not only have I gotten to meet/ get autographs of some amazing bands, but the concerts were incredible. Here are some of my favorites:

Newsboys: My all time favorite band, I have about 10 of their cds and I Love Go. Their Go tour concert is amazing btw. I also love the songs Shine, Breakfast, It Is You, Go, Something Beautiful, I Am Free....the list goes on.

Audio Adrenaline: I'm already missing this fabulous band, I loved thier music especially Underdog.

Chris Tomlin: He is such an amazing artist and I LOVE all his praise songs. At the Alive Fesival the sun set right as he was singing Indescribable. How cool is that?

SuperchicK: I have now met these guys and seen them in concert twice. Love Stand In The Rain and Beauty From Pain.

Barlow Girl: Loved seeing them in concert, Never Alone and Let go are my favorite songs of theirs.

Kutless: These guys are great. Love every song they sing, especially Treason, Take Me In and of course Strong Tower.

Rush of Fools: A very new band that I was lucky enough to see at Alive. They are definitely going places. I love their songs Undo and We All.

Phil Joel: I put him seperate from the Newsboys, because he's so amazing to watch just by himself. I got the opportunity to meet him and he's such a nice guy. He sang Entertaining Angels for us, which was pretty cool. But he has a new cd that has this song called Time Alone that I love.

Shane and Shane: These guys are so amazing with their level of harmonization and they sing such spiritually charged music which is various Psalms most of the time. Love The Answer.

Starfield: Little known but are another wonderful band.

Building 429: Love their song Glory Defined.

Toby Mac: He gives awesome concerts, and is dang cute up close. But seriously I love all his cds, and Portable Sounds is amazing. I love, Burn For You, Made to Love, and Boomin'; but I especially loved it when he did Jesus Freak at the very end.

DC Talk: Loved this band, miss them dearly. I did get the opportunity to see their Supernatural tour once and it was something that I could never forget. My favorites are Red Letters, Jesus Freak, Godsend, and Supernatural.

David Crowder Band: He's such a goofball in real life (in a good way), but his songs are wonderful. Love Wholly Yours, Praise Him and his new one You Make Everything Glorius.

Sanctus Real: These guys actually come from my hometown. I saw them years ago at my high school auditorium and I didn't see them again until this summer. They have changed so much, I have their first promo CD and its REALLY different from them today. They are so gifted and their music is inspiration, I especially love Face of Love.

Third Day: This band is awesome. Love every song they sing.

Rebecca St. James: She's my favorite female singer

Jeremy Camp: He's great, love Take Me Back and This Man.

Aaron Shust: He's phenominal to watch in concert. Love My Savior My God and especially love his new one Give Me Words To Speak.

Brandon Heath: A new artist, but he's extremely talented. Love his song

Natalie Grant: Love her songs Held and her new one In Better Hands.

Jars of Clay: Another amazing band.

FFH: They are wonderful, but I haven't see them in awhile. Love their song Fly Away Home.

Michael W. Smith: Love everything he sings he's such a phenominal artist.

Steven Curtis Chapman: Likewise, he's also a joy to watch and to listen to.

Your posts in this thread (and many others) continue to be spot on, Rogue.

I find myself more often than not listening to music that is considered "Christian" by label, but really, I think you can find spiritual undertones is just about every piece of music you listen to. I get my fix on the music by streaming RadioU, which broadcasts out of Columbus Ohio, but has some satellites around Ohio, and in Indiana and California.

I've really moved into a phase of listening to the ones that are more implicitly "Christian" than the bands who feel the need to say the word "Jesus" every five lines. My current tastes are favoring the likes of Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, and Ellery. All worth checking out.

And, of course, Skillet, which completely rocks. But i could spend days gushing about Skillet.

Bands that i like are far to many too list at the moment but a few that i'm listening to right now would be Kutless, DemonHunter, The Chariot, and when in a quieter mood, Jars of Clay, MercyMe, and Building429. All excellent bands, just depends upon your tastes!

And his newest album, Modern Times, is very definitely not a Christian album; and yet it contains the couplet, "I know some day I'll stand before my King/I wouldn't trade your love for anything."

I have recently discovered a new Christian band that I like: the "Pat Little Band" (the lead singer, Pat Little, says that if David Crowder can have the "David Crowder Band" then he can have the "Pat Little Band.") You guys have probably never heard of them seeing as they just released their first cd and I only know them b/c I'm friends with two of the guys in the band. Basically they started out as our Campus Crusade worship band and have slowly evolved. I admit I'm biased towards them because I'm friends with them, but for five college students I think their music is pretty good. If you're interested in hearing what they sound like, you can check out a few of their songs on their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/patlittleband
