Clone Wars AMV project (Anime Music Video)

I just got a new video editor. With the power of my mad skillz (not ), and a commodity known as "spring break", I will create a few kick ass Clone War AMVs. There are plenty out there for Samurai Jack and various animes, so why not Clone Wars? Expect to see...

One focused on Anakin.
One focused on the Jedi (saber duels etc).
One focused on the major battles.

Wish me luck! I'll give you updates on my progress as work develops. Major work on it won't start until I have all of the episodes, but I'm playing with some stuff now and selecting the music.

 

Forgive the stupidness, what does AMV stand for?

 

I would like to associate myself with JediMasterGuff's stupidness, because I don't know what AMV stands for either.

Anime Music Video. I've seen some that are very well done. Basically you pick a focus (action, a specific character etc) pick some music you feel best fits your focus (rock, classical etc), and re edit the coolest parts from the show so that it all flows well. They're done by fans (some more talented than others) of a particular show usually. You can find them for basically any anime. Oh, and I promise I won't use Linkin Park (THE most overused songs in AMVs IMO).

 

thank god. I love Linkin Park, but after watching 250 Dragonball Z AMV's with music from Linkin Park it's getting old

Okay, I've decided on the music for Anakin's video. It's so perfect, I'm going to keep it a secret for the time being.

I'm open to suggestions for Jedi and Battlefeild/Clone Trooper videos. Right now I'm considering Nightwish's "10th Man Down" for the combat one, and Iron Maiden's "The Duelists" for the Jedi video. Other possibilites include Andrew WK's "Ready to Die" and Offspring's "The Kids Aren't Alright".

Basically, I'm looking for energetic, fast tempoed rock & roll music that will fit well with the combat setting. Thoughts?

 

Well there's Pillar-Fireproof. A great song, I write to it alot. And Fuel-Won't Back Down. Smile Empty Soul-Nowhere Kids. All great rock songs.

Okay, after listening to all the songs again, and with what I have planned. I think "The Kids Aren't Alright" has the best "feel" for the kind of video I'm going to try to do with the Clones. Here's a preview of what you can expect from each of the three.

Anakin-

It's going to be about what makes him tick, and what he can do. This is Anakin in full-frontal hero mode, expect Seperatist and Dark Jedi ass getting beaten around like pinyatas. I will also intercut with important influences in his life, and will end on a sad note, fortelling his tragic fall.

Jedi-

Lightsaber action all around! Get ready to see high octaine Jedi butt whuppin. Also witness the Jedi devastated by their newest foe... Jedi and Sith patrons alike will be able to enjoy this AMV.

Clones-

You're born to fight, and born to die. Sucks right? This AMV will highlight the bravery and sacrifice of these noble, tragic pawns. Fans of obscene amounts of blaster fire will certainly be satisfied.

 

You sure no Linkin Park? I mean their CD Reanimation has some great mixes in it. But anyway, Nickleback-Hero's good. And Staind-Pressure rocks. There's alot more, but I g2g.

 

Oh, maybe one day. I'm partial to Forgotten and seriously considered it for the Anakin video. But trust me, the one I found fits much better.

I just did some experimenting with the Clones' AMV; "The Kids Aren't Alright" works great! It's actually quite sad, it has a very Vietnam-esque feel to it. That's the only way I can describe it. I for one feel really bad for the Clones; I mean, that's their whole exsistence, fighting and dying.

I estimate that there will be approximatly ten million laser blasts seen during the course of this one AMV. Stay tuned.

 

What are your plans for the Jedi video?

 

I'm still trying to decide, but I've got it narrowed down. I'm going to start editing the Anakin and Clone Trooper ones as soon as my finals end on the 24th. Then I'm going to watch all the episodes along with all you fans, sqealing like a girl scout every time Genndy does something cool. Then I'll edit the rest of the new footage from episodes 11-20.

masterskywalker, I have a challenge for you or any other ace editors around here.

Since you're making some AMV's, I geuss something like what I'm needing would be pretty similar (though marginally harder), so I'd like to know if you'd be so kind to take up this mission:

I'm doing a little editing of my own, something similar to Quests Qut of the Qlone Wars. However, I think it would be really awesome if I had some opening credits. Something kinda like the Clone Wars television commercials, but without that voice-over guy ("if you thought it was over, you were wrong..."). Having the main theme or the Imperial March would be great. Is anyone up to the challenge?

Hey, I'm a total newbie at this as well. I'm going to be using pre existing footage for practically everything.

I have chapters 6 & 7 edited together at the start, followed by the "Star Wars: Clone Wars" title that lasts a few seconds, then chapter 1 begins. However, the title shots seem very short to split up a 6-minute intro (which I do feel is a bit long), and the main storyline (Muunilinst), so I thought some opening shots (around 30-40 secs) like the adverts would make it seem a lot cooler.

Update, I'm starting, just starting mind you, to get the hang of Adobe Premiere Pro 7. I actually edited the first 25 seconds of the Clone Trooper AMV complete with sound. It's slow going but I'm learning bit by bit. Hopefully in a week or so I should have the first working prototype of the first two AMVs. I'm going to wait though untill all of the Episodes have been released online to start the final product though. I was grinning like a moron though at the first 25 seconds, it was sweet.

 

Thanks to the leaked video, "Back in Black" by ACDC gets me so pumped it's not even funny. I'm not usually a big AMV fan, but I hope you did a good job with these star wars ones. You'll definitely have to wait until Episodes 17, 18, and 19 because those episodes contract on Anakin and Asajj duel.

 

Oh yeah, from what I've seen previewed, that fight is going to PWN!

 

ok the topic has already steered in a different direction but from what I've gathered, you can only call Anime "Anime" if it's from Japan. Otherwise it's just a cartoon... or an animated series.
