I thought the same thing about 3-PO.

Actually, the X-men cartoons from the 90's(not X-men evolution) looked great to me. I also like the Batman animated series. Even though the shapes are simplified, it gives a lot of depth by adding shadows and also cool vertical perspectives. In thes Clone War cartoons there is no depth at all. You are right. They do look like Flash animations. Can you say Joe Fish! "I'm a Jedi Knight & the Force is strong with me!" [face_laugh]

Like I said before, the story is the most important thing to get right. If that is poorly done, it doesn't matter how good the animation is. As short as these cartoons are, its going to take watching several episodes to even be able to decide if this Clone War series is good or not.

Oh yes, this is gettin' good. Chapter 2 just makes me salivate for more!

** picks up tongue off the floor (yuck!) **

I thought it was nice how Obi-Wan referred to Anakin as, Commander. Indeed, nice touch. Shows that although Obi-Wan doesn't think Anakin is ready, he respects him. ;)

I've really enjoyed it so far. Of course, I'd enjoy it a lot more if I could see more than 3 minutes at a time.

Well, I am going to try to make a temporary DVD of these episodes until the official DVD for these toons come out. I plan to slide these episodes back-to-back so that it appears seamless. Should be interesting. The only drawback is that even these high-end downloads don't compare to that of even VCR quality. Just may have to suffice until the real deal hits stores. //shrugs//

Even the X-Men Evolution style is better than this mess.

So, does that mean you aren't going to watch the remaining 18 chapters?

I've been thrilled with the chapters so far, too.

I remember when Batman: The Animated Series was in the planning stages and I saw how the animation was going to look, and thought it looked kinda cartoony for what was supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the Dark Knight. Well, it didn't take me long to get used to it, cause when I saw the first episode, I loved it, and have been a fan ever since!

Same here. I've been hooked on the Batman Animated series too. I know I'll be watching the remaining episodes of the Clone Wars. I've been reading the comicbook adaptations and they have been pretty good.

If I get a DVD-R next year I'll gladly make copies for whomever wants one (at the cost of a DVD-R disc of course=$3) as I'm saving all these Episodes in my DVR right now. :D

3rd Episode.... ARC Spec Op Troops Kicking Some Butt just like our real life Delta guys. I hope they expand the story like the comic book (Republic) and show how Kenobi and Anakin's friendship with one of the ARC troopers nick named Alpha by Anakin grows. It would be interesting in Episode 3 to show the emotion involved when the Clones turn agains the Jedi. Obi-Wan and Anakin are forced to fight/kill a true friend that has saved thier lives several times durring the years of the Great Clone Wars.

Wow--Kit Fisto is pretty cool, even though he doesn't really have a lot to say. I imagine a conversation between him and those ARC Troopers from Tuesday night wouldn't go very far.

I also liked the way they showed the conflict between the Quarren and the Mon Calamari. And I was diggin' the underwater clones. Hope we get a figure of them!

I'm also wondering how the cartoon will appear when it reaches DVD. I'm thinking it's going to be a little choppy if they just butt all the 3 minute episodes end-to-end, and it would be a little annoying if the episode number popped up between every chapter. Maybe they will go in and add some continuity between the episodes. If nothing else, they could add some classic SW-style wipes between the chapters.

Did anyone notice that Durge's little army bares a striking resemblance to IG-88? According to the EU, they were asassin droids that went amok. IG-88 was one of the last remaining of their kind until Boba Fett offed him in the Empire Strikes Back(EU).

According to the commentary for Chapter 4, the Banking Clan on the planet that the ARC Troopers attacked was known as the "IG Banking Clan" and he referred to Durge's gang as a group of IG droids. The commentary doesn't explain enough for True SW fans, but that IG stuff got me thinking. Go by cartoonnetwork.com and watch the commentary. It's only 3 minutes long. Sinc George glanced over the series, is the cartoons canon? Seems as if Kit Fisto is a mute.

It's odd how the ARC Troopers have redone the color scheme of their armor. The other night the Red ARC was addressed as "Sergeant" and apparently the Blue ARCs are "Troopers." The regular Clones use the Blue color for Lieutenants and the Red for Captains. Thought it was neat that the ARCs brought along some ground-pounder troops to use as cannon fodder.

OH MAN!! These cartoons are AWESOME!

We get to see the Quarren/Mon Cals dispute (right out of EU). They used the IG droids. Fisto and the ARCs kick butt. When I saw the space battle I yelled "Its a trap". The suttle is cool. And they BETTER make WaterTrooper figures. Alot of the sound effects are right from the movies. And they used Fisto's (now trademark) smile.
I am VERY pleased so far.

As far as cannon goes I am guessing that CW falls fight behind the radio dramas. Putting it 5th on the higharchy list (moives, script, novelazation, radio drama, CW). That is the spot that the Holiday special held until Lucas disowned it.

I think the ARCs have thier own color scheme. The figures are blue and red. But teh fig looks more grey to me.

As with most things, I bet they will just blend the IGs existing back story withe the Banking Clan. I bet it wont be hard at all unless they go into more detail in the cartoon. And BTW Scott, there was actually several IG-88s. Like 4 or 5. And the one that Boba offed was IG-88C (I think).

I dont think that Fisto is a mute. Most of his scenes were underwater. But maybe since he is a aquatic he is an empath. And what was with that fireball. I thought I heard him yell ShoRyuKen (from Street Fighter). It was cool though. Maybe they got the idea from EU too. One of Luke's students did something similar in Champions of the Force.

    for all you accuracy freaks out there;

youll notice that the arc troopers in the cartoon arenot like the figures.the pauldron go all the way across the chest, not just the side like the sandtroopers wear.
also the red variation figure isnt like the cartoon at all,he has the large DC gun and a black holster.the cartoon had 2 blasters and 2 white holsters.plus the capes wrong and on and on,blah, blah, blah.
just thought i would bring that up,

also has anyone else noticed the very strong "AEON FLUX" influences?
if not watch the scene with the arc trooper blasting into the STAP ,his actions are identical to AEON and i think it even had music that sounded like it,check it out

None of the Cartoon characters are 100% accurate, They exaggerate major features of all the people, to make up for the lack of detail. Still looks good to me for what it's worth.
Did anyone but me notice the always present in all Great movies scream the famous "Wilhelm" When the Clone trooper standing on the right side of the screen when Durge rides by in Episode 5 bites it.

Well, TECHNICLY, it is the figures that are wrong since the cartoon will have a higher place on the cannon chart.

You are right on the AEON similarities. BTW, the tank was a AAT, not a STAP.

So where do you guys think Asajj got her sabers. Did she kill two jedi and take thier sabers like Aurra.

Her sabers are red and have Sith crystals or something like that in them. I doubt she is using Jedi sabers. Now the Character that I'm hearing stuff about in the last Episode does use dead Jedi sabers, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

thanks for the correction,i knew that tank thing was something like that.

and i think the figures should be designed like the cartoon IF thats what they are portraying.
i was doing research into that red arc trooper and when i pulled up the red arc fig pics i was surprised to see how different the figs are from the cartoon.

They are making a new line of figures that are for the Cartoon and are specificaly desinged to look like them. They will be a target exclusive and will have all new cartoon packages and be more for the kids, like the playschool Star Wars stuff. A clone is slated for the 2nd wave but I think it's a regular trooper not an ARC. The ARC regular line figure is more based on the Comic book then anything else.

Glenn: I can't find the Wilhelm scream. You said Episode 5, but I'm guessing you meant Episode 4, because 5 was Kit Fisto's battle. Anyways, I assume you're talking about the clone on the elevated position who's taking pot shots at the IG biker gang. There is a short scream when some of the ground troops get knocked down on the battlefield, but that lone trooper only seems to let out a grunt when his rifle is shot out of his hands. I've heard about the "Wilhelm" scream for some time, but always thought it was like the scream they use the James Bond game "Goldeneye" whenever someone is ran over by a tank.

Interesting to see the Galactic "Star Destroyers" could land in water in Episode 5.

Never realized it until Count Dooku raised his eyebrow in Chapter 6, but the animation style looks just like the style they used in "Clerks: The Animated Series" which Comedy Central occasionally shows late on Sunday nights.

Friday night they show episodes 1-5 before Some Lame kids Cartoon Movie then Episodes 6-10 after it's over. The Cartoon network is milking Star Wars for all it's worth.

If I owned the Cartoon Network, and this might be my only chance to have anything Star Wars-related, I'd probably milk it, too. ;)
