Ki-Adi-Mundi is simply still talking about Grievous. There's no time stamp. Grievous is that big a threat.

Anakin looks markedly different between the begin and when Padme has missed him, I thought?

Which source book states it took place solely in 21 BBY?

7 weeks is plenty of time on the basis that the Battle of Jabiim starts as a local civil war before the Battle of Geonosis. That's all that is an issue.

Not a spoiler or anything, but young boba (yoba?) returns on a couple of episodes (season 4 iirc)

Yeah, it kind of is a spoiler given this is the first time I'm watching the series.

What page is this? I'm looking through the Essential Atlas and not seeing anything stating that TCW (or the Battle of Christophsis, etc) took place in 21 BBY.

This getting revived has actually made me keep thinking about ways to try and reconcile at least parts of the two Clone Wars timelines, and more and more, it really seems like the biggest sticking point is when Ventress abandons the CIS. In the original timeline, Obsession takes place pretty close to the end of the war, and Ventress indicates the plans for the Battle of Coruscant are already underway. But in TCW, the setup for the battle is in the Citadel trilogy, which takes place after Ventress has already left the war in "Nightsisters".

Furthermore, the Dreadnaughts of Rendiil arc in Republic needs to come before mid-season 3 of TCW, since Quinlan Vos has to again be a Jedi in good standing in "Hunt for Ziro", and Ventress is still one of Dooku's acolytes. But in TCW Phase II clone trooper armor isn't introduced until season 4, except for the ARC trooper prototype version. In Republic, however, Phase II armor has already been introduced by "Dreadnaughts" - and while it would seem easy to handwave this, the issue of Republic that introduces it is actually part of the Vos arc.

In contrast, I think the much-debated issue of Anakin's knighthood is a lot easier to resolve - just move Jedi Trial, or preferably the better new-canon story that replaces it, back towards the beginning of the war in keeping with the microseries' alleged original intentions. The original Leland retcon for this ("Anakin had already grown out his hair, he just had it up in a topknot!") is honestly pretty silly anyway.

Been there. Done that. Did a timeline way back when. Retconned most issues up until the season 6 material to make it fit as closely as possible. It all more or less worked until Dark Disciple threw a wrench into things with Tholme.

Not that I haven't had ideas, but when the canon plug was pulled on the EU I no longer had a reason to update the timeline.

My problem remains that the war feels far too shallow if TCW the series is the only thing we know about it. I do enjoy the series, but it feels incomplete without at least partial EU influence.

But that's just me throwing out the same old arguments as usual.

Also, for the record... I have no real issue with the EU reboot beyond say... the start of Rebels.

Hurry up and get to the episode where the effectual Muun who talks like Alan Rickman and sports spiffy headgear shows up. He's a winner.

I loved your timeline and still have copies of it saved onto my PC. The thing is, it all could have fit together too until the novel Dark Disciple came out. That novel made almost the entirety of Dark Horse's Clone Wars run unworkable with canon. Now, only possibly TPB Volumes 1 and 2 of the Dark Horse Clone Wars run can fit with a canon timeline.

To this day, I still don't know why Disney/Lucasfilm felt the need to publish this novel out of all the Clone Wars leftover scripts there were, especially since it literally closed off future storytelling opportunities in animation and film with the death of a certain major character. A novelization of 'Siege of Mandalore' would have been better, although I assume this script is going to be part of the upcoming 'Ahsoka' novel now.

As far as I'm concerned, Dark Disciple didn't happen in Legends or canon.

Just assume Tholme faked his death again. Again. Again again again. It was a recurring theme even in Legends.

Ventress: Vos... I'm so sorry. I lied. 'I' was the one who killed your master!

Vos: Sure you did. You and about half a dozen others.

Well, it wouldn't have been as silly if the animators actually put in a topknot, rather than it being invisible. :p

Well, I'm 6 eps in and this does sound quite cool, suspect I know who you're talking of when I get there.

Cheers, it's not a big deal, just that I'd happily consign Teen Boba to the nether regions of the internet for all time.

*Obsession is perhaps the single toughest issue to tackle in the entire new timeline, due to it being the original ending story for both Ventress and Adi Gallia, both of whom have seemingly had their fates changed by TCW. Officially, Chee said that it is not Adi's final canon death nor the canon end of Ventress' story. After debating what to do about this story for 3 years, I have stumbled upon what I believe to be the best possible solution. Obsession occurs between seasons 3 and 4, after Ventress leaves Dooku, but before she begins bounty hunting. Dooku secretly recaptures her and brainwashes her. Anakin assumed her dead because of the chaos in their last fight in Witches of the Mist. Adi is wounded by Grievous, but survives this fight. After faking her death, Ventress escapes and eventually returns to the Nightsisters. Because she never works with Dooku again after Obsession, the original intent of the story (her escape from the war, and from Dooku) is preserved, while the story can still happen before Adi dies. This also ensures that Obsession doesn’t conflict with Dark Disciple, where the remainder of Ventress’ tale is told.

**Originally, I was going to have Boba Fett books 2-3 occur before TCW, but it turns out there is a source which claims Boba's escape from Bespin is roughly the same time as the TCW film. As a result, I am moving his escape ahead while keeping the rest of the book 2's events earlier. Books 3 and 4 now occur shortly before the events of the first Boba arc. Putting aside their differences, and having now gained Jabba's respect, Boba Fett decided to work together with Aura Sing after book #3 and 4, sometime after recovering Slave I from her, leading to the first Boba Fett s2 arc. Boba later loses it again in TCW to Hondo, but recovers it in an unknown story after s5, before Book #5. The helmet that was destroyed in his first arc was one of many. He remains in prison for quite some until the Rako Hardeen Arc. Shortly after escaping, he returns to working for Jabba the Hutt. He becomes a full time bounty hunter by the time we get to the s4 finale arc. Books 5-6 can occur in 19BBY as they were originally intended, likely after whatever was planned for the hypothetical s6 bounty hunters arc.

***The Lost One presented us with some rather unique problems that needed to be resolved after certain conversations in the EU. In LoE Chapter 11, Yoda and Obiwan had not yet learned that Tyranus was Dooku, yet it is discovered in this episode. In that chapter, they have an extensive conversation about Sifo-Dyas, the mysterious nature of the clones, and the mystery of a man named Tyranus being behind it. In The Lost One, the Jedi learn that Dooku was in fact Tyranus, so events have been moved shortly after the Cato Nemoidia campaign chapters to ensure that LoE still makes sense. Furthermore, Finis Valorum is still alive in the episode. His death by an Anzat assassin was 'not' confirmed until Republic 73, so that story must still occur after the Yoda arc, along with the holonews entry about his memorial. It has been decided that while Valorum evaded his assassination in the exploding transport (original canon suggested he was never on that transport to begin with), his would be assassin did not in fact find Valorum immediately. The events are presented very vaguely in the issue, with Vos mentioning the shuttle exploding, and the Anzat taking out Valorum, but no details. Valorum succeeded in going underground for a time, until he later resurfaced back in Galactic City, where he was 'finally' taken out after Sidious decided he got a bit 'too' close to revealing bits about Sifo-Dyas, thereby pushing Sora Bulq's assassin to finish her hunt. These retcons account for both his survival, and the Jedi learning about Tyranus in this episode, and also push the Yoda arc closer to EP III due to the major revelations of this arc. Events of LoE as a whole now occur more gradually spread out over an extra few months. Finally, one must take some things into consideration when addressing the Sifo-Dyas timeline. The timeline of his death is implied to be before Palpatine became Chancellor, but since Valorum does not remember the exact timeline of events, it is reasonable to assume that the mission with the Pykes began under Valorum and ended shortly after episode I once Dooku left the order, betraying his friend to gain control of the clone order. Sifo-Dyas probably confided in Dooku, ordered the clones BEFORE his death (since the Kaminoans know Tyranus is not Sifo-Dyas), and Dooku THEN took over the operation and chose Jango Fett as the template AFTER killing Sifo-Dyas, leaving the events seen in Bounty Hunter intact. Dialogue within the episode allows for this to be possible, especially if you assume Palpatine merely denied having 'any' involvement with Sifo-Dyas (which was definitely a lie). Finally, the Seige of Saleucami still started 5 months before Republic 74, it was now just a longer ongoing campaign that Master Rancisis and Quinlan did not join for the first 3 or so months. A campaign at Saleucami was mentioned as beginning in the s5 fugitive arc, so we can now tie the two references together as the early stages of the Outer Rim Sieges and start of the battle.

****Leland Chee pretty much confirmed in a Q&A after a screening that Moraband is just another name for Korriban. Lucas is a silly man. We know. The world, however, is explicitly the same. Darth Bane appears to Yoda in an ashy unknown Sith armor, said to be just an illusion, which could explain him wearing never before seen armor. However, given that Bane died by being turned to ashes, it is always possible he 'does' still haunt the planet in some ways just as so many Sith have before him.

*****Dark Disciple throws a big wrench into Tholme’s timeline, but the best way to address it is to assume he did something he was already known for doing; faking his own death. In this current timeline, he is last seen in Republic 69-71, Dreadnaughts of Rendili, which occurs before the show begins. This leaves a big fat gap where anything could happen to him between seasons 1-8 of TCW. So what may have happened? Seeking to go further underground, he fakes his death by allowing Ventress to “kill” him, even using a force technique to bind the image of the event to one of his lightsabers, which Ventress gives to Dooku. He then remains a hidden asset of the Jedi, convincing even Aalya to hide it from Vos. Since Vos makes no reference to him in Trackdown, one can assume he is still presumed dead by Vos. Meanwhile, Tholme uses this to help him more deeply infiltrate the Anzati. Eventually, after Dark Disciple, he finally resurfaces again, only to confront Vos in Republic 74-77 on Saleucami. During Dark Disciple, Dooku merely makes another of many attempts to tempt Vos to fully embrace the Dark Side. Vos falls almost completely in an attempt to locate Sidious, but continues to resist until he finally overcomes his temptations once and for all later on Saleucami. This requires a bit of mental gymnastics, but all things considered, it still makes it possible to fit in Dark Disciple with the rest of his story.

The Younglings actually had potential (no ROTS joke intended...), although I can't see that ending very well, even if they survived Order 66.

Would have been the General Grievous comic, essentially.

With Disney focusing on marketing for kids in Forces of Destiny, I would like to see more of these younglings pre-order 66, even if its just in 2d. Another story about them that is longer then a few minutes.

I'm glad the youngling arc didn't expand further. As Dr. Steve Brule noted, it would've been similar to the General Grievous comic. And it's a very safe bet that the younglings would've survived Order 66 too, in which case the story would be very similar/borrow heavily from Evasive Action and Dark Times: Parallels&Fire Carrier. Been there done that. No need to rehash Legends.
