CNNNN, the parody on the American News Network CNN, just aired the first episode of its second season today on ABC. Some call it a brillant satire, some people find it an insult.

Personally, I LOVE it. Its clever, its crazy and its just damn right funny. :D Anyone else watch it tonight?! I was hoping the ?John Howard on the streets of America? was just a hoax, but the sad thing is, it probably isn?t. I still loved the people who said they?d seen him on TV and got their photos with them. :D

Good to see they haven't lost it.

Some of my favourites from the newsbar:

15 horses die in water polo disaster
John Edward bloodbath as Ghostbusters show up
Speed limit around schools reduced to 40 grams.

They haven't gotten around to updating the newsbar on the website, but it should be up soon

So far so good, the pickled piper was the best sketch so far I believe

I missed it :(, but it is definitely one of the best comedies on TV right now...or so i believe.

You're joking. Who says it's an insult? I think it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen when it's at its best.

My favorite part of the last show was the shampoo ad. Such a brilliant parody. "With the added beauteligence of gooseberry! And the added goodness of squid extract! Your hair will be filled with adjectives!"

And favorite newsbar item: Groucho Marxist revolution delivers slapstick to the people.

Yeah, some crazy right-wing dudes I know have 'issues' with it.

I loved the Mcdonalds pickle that went around yelling at people. Poor pickle...it was never given a chance! ;)

*Shakes head* Oh dear. Some people just don't have any sense of humour. CNNNN is some of the sharpest political and social satire I've ever seen.

Yeah, it is really good, I'll give it that much. And to think I missed the first episode as well... :( I hope it's as good as it once was...

Indeed it is, yet many of their ideas lack originality. A lot of CNNNN stuff (which originated from the Chaser newspaper) is stolen from The Onion who were the original and the best political web satirists. In my opinion, this lack of originality (although still funny rehashed) tends to detract from the show as a whole...

Yes, that's true, but I think one of the best things about the show is how slickly it is put together. The look and feel of it is absolutely identical to the actual CNN, which make the satire so much more effctive.

Well, I haven't seen this other show, so CNNNN is still bloody brilliant in my opinion...

Something tells me CNN wouldn't be hard to replicate... but I do agree with you Nass.

True, it wouldn't be hard to replicate. We used to have heaps of shows like this on TV. Backburner and Good News Week just to name a few. But now there are none, so CNNNN is it. I'm with Detonating-Rabbit! It's bloody brilliant. :D

    Damn straight :D

Have to say, I really liked the "We bring you both sides of the story" skit, with Bush and Blair's faces appearing...ah, it was good.

Or maybe you had to be there... :)

LOL! I know. :D Both sides of the story...well, we like our news to be balanced now, don't we? ;)

I still can't believe the 'going onto streets of America and suggesting new Iraq flags'. Can someone PLEASE tell me that wasn't real?! PLEASE!

"Only in America..." so they say...

I think it was, sadly. But hey, we have another episode tomorrow, and it's gonna be bloody brilliant, methinks...or at least I hope...nah, of course it will be. :)

Oh my god, that was just...scary. I think the worst was probably when they had the flag with "God is great" instead of the arabic writing, and the people they showed missed the point entirely, but instead said "yes, I like that in english. It's easier for me to understand that way."

Yes, because those people on the streets, without a doubt, represent the majority of Americans. It's not like CNNNN interviewed hundreds of people and only chose the dumbest dozen or so to broadcast. Not at all.

*Thinks about 'Home and Away' and 'Neighhbours', and then about the irony of their popularity in Britain considering they are so shtouse....

I could not agree more. The Block was bad, but we've certainly had worse. Consider yourself lucky we don't send you 'Big Brother'...

Of course I apologise to anyone who likes these shows, but they're just not my thing...

Yes! CNNNN is on 2nite!!! :D
