San Diego, CA Collecting thread!

Wow! That is some haul, Linda! The question then is, where are you going to put it all in the Star Wars room?

 

I know... I'm out of space already.

James, in El Paso Texas is this awesome Collectible shop, they have a ton of vintage Star Wars as well as newer stuff like the Jawa Sandcrawler. There are some ROTJ MPC Mirr-a-Kits that I bought, some Royal Guard pencils and eraser, and button, as well as the TIE Helmet. Since one of my costumes is a Royal Guard, I always try to collect anything with the RG on it when I see it. I barely was able to get all this packed up in my car to take it back. The mirror kits you attach to a mirror to display, it comes with its own little mirror or you can attach them to any mirror. They were only $4.95 each so I said, "what the heck." He also has all the Star Wars ornaments for cheap, and since I go there whenever I'm in town, he always gives me a good deal and usually throws in a few things for free. Oh... I also got the Darth Vader tin circular container there, and the Boba Fett OTC 12" figure that is for the son of a friend of mine.

 

I see you found all the Galactic Heroes sets; those were hard to find for Christmas. My sister gave three of them to Mitchell for his present but she had to buy them at Disneyland (ouch).

There is a guy here in San Diego who sells a lot of vintage stuff on e-Bay. He goes by the name of swseller.

 

Nice haul Linda! I've had to cut down my collecting habit drastically.. I've even had to put most of my stuff into storage! I don't have anyting Post-OTC. I was able to finally pick up the Mace Windu Unleashed, which was the only one I don't have (so far).

 

Yes, I've bought from SWSeller before... I've even been to his house.. he was 17 at the time... I was shocked someone so young could have amassed such a large collection... but I think he bought everything from Lance when he went out of business. That is the guy who owned the Star Wars shop in El Cajon.



Oh, whoever finds me this will be rewarded.. its a Darth Vader lawn sprinkler! I must have it! Someone found one in the Target toy section... don't know why it wasn't in the lawn and garden section. Was that you Matt who found it at Target? I saw your post on the collecting forum.

Heh, no I haven't found the Darth Vader lawn sprinkler, but I did find a Star Wars Slip 'n Slide type thing at Target. It has x-wings and tie-fighters on it. Why they are selling these things in the winter-time, I don't know.

I don't want you to go through any trouble Donna, but if you do see it, pick it up for me. I like the unusual and bizarre Star Wars items almost more than the action figures... it will give people a good laugh at least.

 

It's no trouble; I'm in Target more than I should be. I like the unusual stuff too.

If I get it for you, it just means that you'll have to host a pool party and hook this puppy up in the side yard.

I just won a Gentle Giant Clone Wars Yoda maquette for $39 on e-Bay with my Christmas money. I am so stoked!!!

 

We were just in the Escondido Target last night and I didn't see it. Where was it? Was it with the other SW stuff?
I want to get one too...the kids'll love it....Ok, I will love it!

Kat, they had them with the wading pools and such (barely after Christmas and they're already putting out the summer stuff), between the toy section and the sporting goods section.

 

Didn't look there...we'll be in soon enough I'm sure so I'll look again.

 

I didn't see either the sprinkler or the slip and slide at the Mission Valley Target and forgot to look for them while at the Sports Arena one.

They do however have cute SW children's sunglasses: Chewie, two different types of Vader, the droids, and Anakin.

Check the section where they sell accessories...there will be a display area with sunglasses for adults and kids.

I looked last night in the Target in Chula Vista, they hadn't gotten the kids sunglasses in yet.

 

Just got home from the Target in Escondido.
Bought the Darth Vader sprinkler, passed on the slip n slide when Jon and I both remembered our only memories of one as a kid which was getting hurt.
Found the sunglasses, there were about 6 designs. All in Ep3 packaging. Gavin got a pair with R2D2 and C3PO on the lenses.
Also got a couple of other toys too.
There were quite a few things there.

 

Kat, just let me know if you happen to find anything the next time you hit TRU up in north county. I almost had a figure jon's friend wanted but still trying to work out a trade. Still looking for those Marvel Legends and other SW figs

Edit: I guess I just found out what was next... a Boba Fett Toilet seat cover... and what's weirder, I'll probably buy one... I might be intimidated the first few times I use the restroom though. LOL
