Hang on Phill, there will still be people who haven't sorted rooms - not everyone has worked out what they are doing. And if after that you can't find someone, then I'll book the 2 person room - it's the same price whether I book double or single (I'll email em about what the bed situation is in the rooms - ie double or two singles) and you can share with me lol. The rooms do have a enclosed bathroom, I checked the photos again :p

I will be going up Sat morning (before 11am) to sign in the hotel, I'll sign out of the hotel Sunday morning before the convention, and head home after the convention.

Hold your horses on not coming just yet :p

To get into this place, can I just buy a standard ticket on the day, or does one need to pre-order somehow?

....I would expect that you could pay on the day, but may be queues I guess...you can preorder - but they slap £2 p+p on the price....

Pre-order link ^^^^^ back up the thread.....

I'm thinking about maybe travelling up on Friday so that I can be there for when it opens on Saturday morning, which would make sense as I'll be working on one of the stalls :p
Consequently that means I may not be able to room share as most seem to be arriving on Saturday. I'll let everyone know what my plans will be a bit later, although I may decide to come up on Saturday after all. I'm so confussed already :p

And I'm from the London FF Tim ;)

I'm gonna be bringing my hubby, his brother and possibly one other friend or two.

Looks like this may be a cracker of a meetup.

...so what does everyone fancy doing on the Sat night (knowing full well that there will be a diversity of tastes....)...

Some kind of food, followed by some kind of pub?

Any suggestons from locals appreciated for what looks like a small 'group' of about 15 or so (and dont say the chippy near the bus station - although they do great chips!)

If you are in the 'maybe' section...how are your evil plans to get into the deffo section going? Have you raided your partners credit card yet? [face_devil]

    Hiya and welcome :D

Last time I went to Liverpool the train took just over an hour. Was quite sometime ago though - hopefully faster now.

Hehe, like the idea of the bar being full of Jedi. Better than chavs ;)

Like Go_away said, Glass_Onion, it's about an hour on the train, and I think the Liverpool - Manchester trains run late-ish (unlike Southport to Manchester), but I can check that for you. You'll need Limestreet to Manchester Piccadilly.

Aye that's the station I was thinking of. Wasn't to sure what Manchester station though, Only been their once and that was with my family in the car. Only problem with Southport would be getting their early if I was to get the train from their.

Oh lol, I wasn't meaning for you to go via Southport lol, that would be a pain for you unless you are nearer there than Liverpool city centre. I was whining about how bad it is for people want to travel back late in the evening to Southport :p But if you are in Liverpool, Lime Street is your best bet.

I have found pdf files (so I'd right-click and save to your computer or open them in a browser window) from http://www.northernrail.org/ for Liverpool to Manchester (it goes all the way to the Airport), but you'll need Piccadilly.

Timetable 15 - Liverpool to Manchester Airport and Warrington Bank Quay via Earlestown - http://www.northernrail.org/travel/download/2006_timetables/15.pdf

**** Timetable 16 - Liverpool to Manchester Piccadilly via Warrington Central - http://www.northernrail.org/travel/download/2006_timetables/16.pdf

I think the second one (Timetable 16) is the main one, Liverpool - Warrington - Manchester

    http://www.northernrail.org/travel/timetables.asp?TYPE_AHEAD=&StationID=279&SubmitBtn.x=49&SubmitBtn.y=13

There is a map here - http://www.northernrail.org/travel/network.asp - of the Northern network.

It actually takes about the same amount of time to get to both, It's just getting to Liverpool is easyer since I can get their via train. Southport I need to use the bus and their's only one bus route by my that goes their. I'll check out the timetables now, Thanks for the help. :D

Okay, so I'm definitely coming. I'm also bringing my friend Jay (Tim, you might know him from the DH boards as Death150!) and there's also a chance that we'll be staying for both days, so is it okay if we tag along for whatever you lot are doing Saturday night? [face_batting]

*pokes Chris* So, if I go to this event I get to see you after 3 years then? [face_worried] ;)

I'll probably be heading up on the Friday, I am staying with a friend who lives outside Manchester and travelling in on the mornings.

    I need some help!! :( ;)

Can anyone offer me train advice from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly??
I had a look on Virgintrains.co.uk and they do some cheap single fares early Saturday morning for about £12-18. The only catch I can see is that you have to book in advance, which isn't a problem but is that the only catch?? Also, does this mean I'll have a reserved seat too (which is an advantage IMO). Thanks for any help!! :D
My plan is to get a train up on Saturday (arrive around 11ish) and hitch a ride back from my Uncle (he doesn't know this yet which is a potential problem :p ).

BTW, I'm still a 'maybe' on the list, but hope to have things confirmed this week or next.

When I got the train up there a couple of weeks back it wasn't reserved. I don't know if that was just my train though.

To be honest I got a train at about 5pm and it was pretty empty and I had a huge selection of seats.
