Except Lucas did. Before his injuries, he had a concentration of Midichlorians that put him above the other Jedi and would allow him to defeat Palpatine in battle. After his injuries, he was more like Maul and Tyrannus. Formidable, but not "Superman".
After his injuries, he still had the same concentration of midichlorians in his remaining undamaged cells.
I think this is a great post. It really captures Anakin's changing psychology as the scenes progress and how giving into the dark side and becoming power-mad twists Anakin's thinking. However, I would add one point about Palpatine's attempt to turn Luke that makes his thinking seem more rational. Luke's rage isn't the only thing that Palpatine is counting on to motivate Luke to want to become a Sith. Palpatine also hopes that Luke's fear of death will convince to turn to the dark side given that Luke clearly knows that if he doesn't turn then Palpatine will kill him. Giving up the rest of your life is a pretty big sacrifice to make to ensure that you remain true to your ideals.
In regards to the original post, I don't think that Palpatine would have helped prevent Padme from dying, but from what we know of him from the EU, he may have that power. In the Darth Plagueis novel, Palpatine is there when Plagueis lets Venamis die and then brings him back to life repeatedly, so Palpatine is aware of this ability. Since this seems like a pretty useful ability, it seems that Palpatine would have learned it from Plagueis before he killed his master. However, we never actually see Palpatine learning this ability in the novel. (The novel covers a lot of time and so it clearly doesn't cover every detail over what is probably a 30-year time frame and a lot is left unsaid.) Venamis has been kept drugged and unconscious in the years before Plagueis finally revives and kills him again and again, so presumably if Palpatine knows this power, he could keep Padme unconscious and alive against her will, even if she has given up the desire to keep on living.
dying in child-birth in the Star Wars galaxy was COMPLETELY CURABLE Anakin didn't need to kill kids, he just had to take Padme to the doctor ep3 is the worst of the prequels
It's pretty clear Palpatine has no clue how to prevent Padme from dying. He claims he understands this power to sway Anakin, but when Anakin does turn, and Sideous "knights" Lord Vader he says very clearly: Palpatine/Sideous: To cheat death is a power only one has achieved but if we work together I know we can discover the secret That certainly suggests good ol' Palps has no clue how to prevent Padme from dying, and frankly I doubt he really cares... he already has his prize... a new apprentice. Padme's just extra baggage. Yancy
Right, but his connection is diminished regardless of what was left. It's like an antenna. A regular antenna will be sufficient to get signals within a fixed area, but a larger antenna will spread out further and garner a wider array of signals. The same is true here. He could still do the things like his predecessors could do, but he couldn't do the things he did before and the things that his children can do. Childbirth wasn't what killed her. It was his betrayal that did it. But he didn't know that. He saw her aboard her ship and in the Polis Massa medical center. When she was there, the medical droids couldn't find out what was wrong with her that was causing her to die. That's why Anakin pledged himself to the dark side, because as far as he knew, the Force was the only solution to his problem. And a Jedi's training says that you must trust your instincts and the Force.
Plus, he wanted to be around Palpatine. He hated Palpatine, and being his apprentice gave him the opportunity to hang around and wait for an opportunity to kill him.
