That is a complete disgrace. Coldplay are a quality band who deserve the number one spot with their REAL MUSIC, but they are going to be denied by some ****** ringtone!!!!!

Words really do fail me. What is the world coming to???

I'm not surprised with that quote from the HMV spokesman in that bbc article.

I popped into my local HMV store and was immediately faced with, five feet from the entrance, a big display rack of 'Crazy Frog' CD-singles. No other CD-single available on that floor. For other singles purchases you had to trape to the back of the store and down the stairs to the basement - a two minute detour!!

Preferential treatment for a crap tune.

As I said before, not surprised. The singles are predominately for the teen market anyway. Album sells is where the BPI make their big money.

Now if there was an album of crap ringtones (heaven forbid) that get to number one, then I'll be greatly concerned.

I have just one question: why?
Why would someone waste money on this single?

If you're being serious, that's the funniest thing I've read in quite a while. Coldplay? Goth? Next you'll be saying that Muse encourage people to slit their wrists.
If you're not being serious, that's not funny at all.

The Battle of the Heroes single is out. It's worth it for a couple of quid.

Crazy Frog is one of the main reasons I refuse to shell out for a TV license while I'm at university.

It does my head in something terrible, and it doesn't help that my kid nephew can make the exact same noise, and does so, frequently...

My brother recently got a new PC with a DVD ReWriter drive.

The first damn thing he burned was a DVD with the crazy frog and the stupid chick adverts on it.

I may have to kill him to save him from himself.

The first Sweety the Chick advert.

"I may be small, I may look sweet..." etc, etc.

    Truly terrible.

It's official, music is indeed dead, annoys me when there are decent bands like Coldplay, Keane, U2 and Oasis who miss out on the top spot due to rubbish "music" like the Crazy Frog. All these people who purchased the single, I hope you are happy, because we will end up seeing a lot more stupid commercials.

Well the single chart is actually made up by teenage or pre-teenage girls spending pocket money on crap, I never care what is number one as it doesn't matter. Singles are ever on the decline because the majority of people will not waste money on a couple of tracks and buy albums instead. Interestingly enough the same single buying market is the one that the ring tones are aimed at, so it was going to make commerical sense, and it was never going to fail. The fact it can stir up so much hate in people certianly made sure of this. How many kids will be buying it just to annoy their parents?

And I have despised all ring tones for a long time now, but the amount this is on is stupid, and now not even safe when I come on the net. I was just checking my email, when my speakers start pumping out that crap tune. A banner ad, with sound, is not what I ever want. I think it is time to rise up and overthrow Jamster. Anyone who has that ringtone must be earmarked for death, it is for there own good.

This is why I refuse to buy into this mobile phone culture we've got going on at the moment. I have a mobile, but it's old, pay as you go, and I only use it in emergencies like car breakdowns. Last thing I need is something else to suck all my money unnecessarily.

Same here. I do text but only when necessary. £10 top up will probably last me 6-8 months.

This country is going down the tubes.

With Chav culture and criminals getting away with murder, absurd house prices and 12 year olds having children.

This is another indication of the downward slide - we have crap like Celebrity Love Island on TV and bloody RINGTONES at the top of the charts.

    I despair...
