    Why so serious?

    NORFOLK - A Fort Eustis soldier who was killed Sunday in a shootout with police was described as idolizing The Joker from "The Dark Knight," and he painted his face during a failed getaway attempt that took him across the state.

    That description of Army Spc. Christopher Lanum was included in court papers filed in the arrest of his girlfriend. She is charged with aiding Lanum after he allegedly stabbed a fellow soldier at the Newport News post early Sunday morning.

    Investigators also said Lanum was dressed in black pants and a green vest before the stabbing, and that the computer in his room showed that someone was searching for information on "sleeping gas."

    And then they questioned Harley...er....the girlfriend....

    However, she said her boyfriend idolized the Joker ? the fictional criminal from the Batman film. Separately, investigators also noticed masks and pictures or paintings of the Joker in Lanum's room, as well as face paint on the hutch and dresser.

    She told investigators that her boyfriend "said everything the Joker did he did for a reason, like killing people, and that he agreed with the philosophy of doing things for a reason."

    Hours before the stabbing, Montowski said her boyfriend was "'preparing for war,' as he often did" ? a ritual that involved cleaning his knives.

    I wonder if the writers of The Dark Knight actually did any research into paranoid schizophrenia, cause the actor sure as hell wasn't playing someone with the condition.

    Obviously this is the classic senario where not only is this violent video games, violent tv, but also everything else media related. There is no way he could simply have been crazy/wrong in the head on his own.

    All forms of entertainment with the exception of "High School Musical" should go. Then everyone will sing and dance all day long! 8-}

    Well, given that the head of Arkham just prior to the events of TDK was for all intents a liar who made up diagnoses so that mob lackeys wouldn't go to real prisons, I'd say Batman (who would have been going by official files and police records) was telling the truth. From a certain point of view.

    Either that or he was playing Harvey's sympathy strings, thinking that the DA would actually kill the guy.

    It's time for the parent groups and the politicians to ban Batman III.

    Can we arrange for the "girlfriend" to have a tubal ligation? She apparently has the oh-so-common "locate the biggest piece of crap dreg of male humanity within a couple of hundred miles and hook up with him" gene. We don't want this passed on to another generation.

    The quote indicates that the Joke attracted paranoid schitzophrenics (can't spell), not that he was one.
