Must Watch of the Week Season Premiere Preview
    CSI

"We'd have to stretch all the way back to Jimmy Smits biting it on NYPD Blue to remember the last time a crime drama made us weepy. But with Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) shot in the season 8 finale, CSI returns with a wrenching yet satisfying opener that puts the investigators on their most important case: finding out who killed their colleague. The scenario forces everyone ? characters and actors alike ? to turn in their best work, particularly William Petersen, who taps into an emotional reservoir we didn't know Grissom had. The result is an episode that's so solid, the return of Jorja Fox feels less like a stunt, and more like a family reunion. ?Alynda Wheat"

CSI: Las Vegas is one of my favorite shows, but its going to suck when Peterson leaves and Fishburne takes over.
I can see it now. "What did the victim choke on?..the red pill..or the blue pill..?"
    Ahhhh!

Blind Item: Hot Show's Stars Feel a Big Chill

    Oct 27, 2008, 01:39 PM | by Michael Ausiello

    Categories: Blind Item

"It seems the star of a certain hit series has, to quote my mole, "a lot of rules" about the conditions under which he will work. None of his castmates like this -- it's diva antics, of course -- but only the show's female lead has the clout to say she won't put up with it. As a result, the two have gone from acting in few scenes together to acting in none whatsoever. (In fact, despite a story arc that would have made it nearly impossible for their characters to logically avoid one another, so far this season, they haven't crossed paths once.)

So, guesses as to the identities of the Mr. Big whose Method is so maddening and the one costar with the stones to rock the boat? I'll give you one more hint, then you're on your own: The show has, I hear, "already lost one actress" at least in part due to conflicts over Mr. Man and his master thespian baggage. Your turn. Who are the players in this frosty backstage drama? (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)"

Here's the guesses of the readers:

Geri Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:55 PM EST

It's gotta be David Caruso and Emily Proctor on "CSI Miami". I can't remember the last time these two appeared in a scene together.

Jordan Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

It could be Lost, but it's definitely NOT Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly. They'd been in PLENTY of scenes together and the article said they've gone from "little" to "none". And the comment about Michelle Rodriguez doesn't make any sense. She didn't leave because of disputes about an actor, she left because of an OUI.

I think Caruso is WAY too obvious to be the right answer.

What about Grey's Anatomy and Dempsey? They've already lost Walsh, which actresses is he barely on screen with?

What about Earl and Jason Lee? I've heard a rumor about him being a jerk and I heard that Nadine Velazquez doesn't like him. Honestly though, I hate that show, so I wouldn't know if they share scenes together or not . . .

John Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:48 PM EST

    I think it's Caruso. I don't watch CSI: Miami so I don't care :)

CindyW Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

I think most people here are right about CSI:Miami, but I have one other idea to toss out -- Numb3rs. I can't remember if Don and Amita have actually appeared in any scenes together this year (or if it's just been implied. . . they've just missed each other. . .etc). It fits the criteria of having recently lost an actress, plus I've read elsewhere that Rob Morrow can be quite a diva.

    G Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:43 PM EST

i'm gonna agree with David Cauruso and Emily Proctor... Kim Delany left the show as well as the fantastic (and hopefully onto much better things) Khandi Alexander.

Lacy Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:29 PM EST

I think the show is Lost, but I don't think that Matthew Fox is the guy. I would say Terry O'Quinn. If I remember hearing correctly he and Mr. Ecko did not get along on set. Michelle Rodriguez could be the "lost actress."

welshgirl Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:28 PM EST

I think it is Caruso on CSI Miami, with Emily Proctor the female lead. I don't believe they've had a scene together yet. Maybe?

lhath Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:25 PM EST

Check out the Britannica article on David Caruso- lists him as a "method actor" and also goes into detail about the NYPD Blue drama.

Miss Misery Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

Not House--Hugh Laurie is no diva, and the storyline isn't revolving around House and Cameron.

Vixen Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

David Caruso - no doubt about it!

PalinSux Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

    Grey's?
Dempsey has always had a HUGE ego, dating way back to the late 80's.
However, chances are it's CSI: Miami, they've lost cast members and Caruso is a bona fide as*

Caruso's smug, head-tilted, emotionally distant portrayal of his character is one of the creepiest things on TV. Talk about a one note song. Yes, I know cops can get jaded, but he's so rigid in his performance, he's lapsed into self-parody. I wish one of the other cops would tickle him with a feather or give him nitrus oxide or something.

Just once I'd like to see him break into a song and dance number. [face_mischief]
Yeah, I know it aint gonna happen.

I broke down, while stranded in a motel recently, and actually watched, start to finish, three episodes of Miami.

Bottom line: Caruso is giving the finest tuned bad performance in television history. He obviously decided a while back to just yuk it up; pity his cast members who have to try to play it straight to this performance. I don't know how they keep from breaking up. The man is, I think, a comic genius; I mean, there is no way a performance can be this awful and not be intentional.

Good God, he actually said, "That's what happens when worlds collide" on one of those episodes; no way anybody on that show is serious about this. [face_laugh]

You know how it pains me to agree with you, right, Rogue?

    Well, I agree with you.

Caught the start of one episode. He's mesmerizingly terrible.

"William Petersen's Gil, still morose about the vamoosing of Jorja Fox's Sara, pays a visit to Melinda Clarke's returning S&M expert, Lady Heather, for (cough, cough) professional reasons: There's a sadie-masie crime subplot. CSI defies the usual rule of procedural shows â?? the more we see of the heroes' personal lives, the worse the show becomes â?? on the strength of a crackling murder mystery and more glimpses into the delightfully sarcastic personality of new CSI member Riley (Lauren Lee Smith). Plus, Lady Heather has a new job! B+ â??Ken Tucker"

"The exhaustion in the eyes of Gil Grissom ? the bags under the bags ? may be fine acting on the part of William Petersen, or it may reveal his true state as his character prepares to wrap up a nine-season run on CSI on Jan. 15. The series has been reviving some of Gil's greatest hits with new cases involving his S&M soul mate Lady Heather (Melinda Clarke) and his insidious nemesis the Miniature Serial Killer (Jessica Collins), but Gil's (not Petersen's) rhythm has been off. No longer does Grissom approach each maggot-ridden, bloated corpse with the gusto of Sweeney Todd stropping his razor. He just wants out. ?Ken Tucker"
