Between this and Matrix 4, it’s a great time for fans of the genre. My most anticipated game in YEARS.
So the game being delayed AGAIN along with multiplayer being pushed back 1-2 years along with Hugo Weaving being unavailable for Matrix 4 is what fans of your genre call a great time?
I can’t think of anything more quintessentially William Gibson than a lot of delays, honestly; this checks out.
Absolutely. I didn’t want Smith back. Defeat should mean something, and I don’t want a Palpatine TROS situation again. Permanent deletion - defeating him was the whole point of the original trilogy. Time for new threats and new characters. And Cyberpunk’s delay is annoying but I want a good game. I’m confident we’ll get one.
Well, yes. I agree but the Matrix Universe (unlike Star Wars) allows Smith to be resurrected with fair legitimacy given the 'digital' nature of its lore and the fact there have been various iterations of The Matrix, as explained by The Architect.
I get all that. But it would be repetition for the audience. He’s already been killed twice on screen. Time for new villains. Again, I don’t want a TROS situation here.
Without knowing anything more, I'd probably be leaning towards Moxes, Kang-Tao, and Arasaka -- though Valentinos might suit my playstyle, depending on how close to Paladin-ism those values are.
IIRC, CDPR said the player character can't really join a faction, but can choose to side with them on quests. Kind of ambiguous. You can choose one of three backgrounds during creation: Street Urchin, Nomad, or Corporate, which open up dialogue options and choices during quests. In the 2018 gameplay demo they also had "childhood hero" in character creation, which could be Silverhand, Arasaka, or Blackhand, but it seems they've dropped that for just Silverhand/Keanu. I'm thinking my first playthrough will be a street urchin rockerboy/girl hacker with an inclination towards anarchy and revolution.
Fake choices in video games are always dumb, good on them for eliminating the options no one would pick.
Interesting... as someone who's studied the lore of the original Cyberpunk 2020 RPG, the inclusion of Militech and Arasaka is fascinating, to say the least. To put it bluntly, the 4th Corporate War - which happened around 2022 - was fought by Militech and Arasaka as the primary antagonists. It ended with Arasaka falling apart and Militech being absorbed by the US government. Also, a tac-nuke was set off in downtown Night City. Granted, this happened half a century before the game started. Still... Also, just so you folks know, Night City - which is located between San Fran and LA - is not a nickname, but the name of the founder. ... okay, I'm kidding about that photo. But the founder was, in fact, a Mr. Night. (In all fairness, he didn't call it that - the city was renamed such after he was murdered).
CDPR is starting to tease the vehicles, and have said there will be customization options. This was from their twitter, reminds me of Mad Max: These are actually the same model of car, a "Quadra Type-66" but one is extensively customized:
Go figure But if it works better ok. I’m just saying I ll not be surprised if it happens yet again to.
I can live with a delay if it allows for a final polish Even better if there is polish but no need for crunch and the extra time allows for a massive reduction in crunch
Yeah, I don't care when it comes out as long as it comes out right and they don't rush it. I'm hugely excited for this, but at the end of the day, I'll play it when it comes out, and until then I've got plenty of other video games to occupy my time.
