Spoiler ... not exactly. You don't get to play the game yet, just start it; Johnny Silverhand then admonishes you that it isn't Dec 10th yet. Didn't mean to get your hopes up!
However, there is some actual good news - it looks like the game will go active at 7 pm on December 9th! This is according to CDPR itself. Woo hoo!
Buggy as hell are the initial reviews. Lets hope the day one patch resolves a good portion of them or else the run the effect of having an ME Andromeda on their hands. If it's ganked totally on day 1 even with the patch it may be worthwhile hanging fire for the follow up patch to hit
The thing is, they didn't even let people review it on consoles, so it could be even worse there. Definitely not buying this day one. I do hope that patch helps but damn.
Yeah, now I've read some more reviews and they're saying the bugs are pretty bad. I guess I'm not worried about it being an Andromeda though, because CDPR has a pretty good track record of patching/improving their games. Like, the Witcher 3 menu system is kind of clunky to this day, but it was substantially worse at launch. Honestly, after waiting this long, I just hope it's playable lol
Erm this the same CDPR that broke The Witcher 3 on PS4 with a patch then never fixed it so I still can't play it?
PC review I saw indicated that there were bugs, but the reviewer played it through multiple times already. Plus, it took them 6 hours (!) to get to the opening credits. Preordered as soon as I came home and I'm in the process of downloading (if only so Johnny can berate me for trying to play early)
See the review I saw said by the end of the game it was nearly unplayable with bugs. I mean hopefully that massive 43gb day one patch fixes most of them....
Hmm, Laymen Gaming? My favourite Aussies? I'm being.... chilled.... about this, not like I have much choice in the matter but I'm kind of also kind of getting hooked on Dragon's Dogma.
Sterling's a little busy right now shooting large holes in the "games need to be $70" claim by the industry. Need to get around to those two videos.
I just finished watching his latest rant about terrible industry practices... at the end of which he said he probably wouldn't review this game.
This is probably my first series X buy. So whenever that version comes out. Gives me time to replace my tv too.
Yeaaah we have no idea is the answer. They wouldn't let anyone test it on PS4. I suspect it will not really work on base PS4.
Is it me or does polygon not spend a single sentence about what it's like to actually play the game? At lease some of the reviews that talk about the bugs are telling us about gameplay, but I guess Polygon is a game magazine for people who don't play games.
Yeah, so I'm thinking I might cancel that pre-order. It being buggier than the I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here pantry was one thing, but the MASSIVE epilepsy warning is making me seriously reconsider picking the game up, especially at launch. And tbh even if I do get the game I think I might get it second hand. I'm not sure how comfortable I feel giving CDPR my cash at this point...
They're claiming the day one patch will fix some issues in the review copies (and to be fair that did help with Witcher III) but it's absolutely coming in white hot and only because of the holiday.
