maybe the force told the person to dump her in hell, by doing so the girl will only grow stronger and her being on the Falcon is her finally escaping hell. She will find Luke when the time is right and shall be guided to the light.:p

exactly, dumping her alone at such a dangerous place will only lead to the dark side. [face_laugh] This only works if it happens when someone has not much time and to bring her there for a later pick up, but then something makes it impossible to pick her up (like in Interstellar movie). Han/Leia would have enough time to pick her up, but Luke is the one who disappeared for whatever reason. ;)

Or Luke. Nor would Luke leave her there because he is "traumatized".

    Total BS
The simple answer is they don't know she is there or don't know who she is. Nobody would dump their own child/relative there to "toughen them up".
    Total crap

Here is a theory that assumes Rey is Luke's daughter and explains why she is on Jakku and where Luke is.
Luke set up a Jedi academy and he found love and they had a daughter Rey.
When Rey was a child, the academy was attacked by the Knights of Ren. They were searching for a relic with great power that was in the Jedi temple.
The padawans were killed and Luke got there too late to save them. He did though stop the Knights of Ren from getting their hands on the mysterious relic.
He killed them all apart from Kylo, spared because he is Han and Leia's son.
After this we see him with R2. He records a hologram message and tells R2 to play it back years later when the time is right.
He must take the artifact and guard it from Snoke and the First Order. He cannot take Rey with him as it is too dangerous, they are not after her, they want him, and the relic.
So Rey is taken into the custody of a friend and Luke gives her the lightsabre. Rey is taken to Jakku, which is a similar type of planet to Tatooine where Luke was taken to hide him from the Empire.
Whoever the friend is, they take her on the Millenium Falcon. So Rey is now a child living on Jakku.
Another reason Jakku is chosen is because this is where the Jakku survivors led by Max Von Sydow were abandoned by the Empire, so it is safer than a planet involved in the conflict.
Years later she is caught up in the conflict between the Rebels and the First Order, like Luke in OT.
The Jakku community find the lightsabre and Max Von Sydow contacts the resistance. This sets in motion the events of the movie.
Once she meets Maz, she is shown visions of Luke and what happened. She is upset and storms off. Then she is captured and Kylo knows who she is.
Later R2 plays the hologram message, because it is time, the message asks that Rey bring the lightsabre to him.
When they meet she is upset and angry and Luke explains why he had to leave.
For the sequel I think Luke will take Rey with him to guard the artifact and train her as a Jedi.
Snoke is based on Aing-Tii monk and uses the Knights of Ren and First Order to get the mysterious relics. Obviously Luke cannot let that happen and guarding this relic from Snoke has to take priority. It would be very sad for Luke because he has to put the galaxy above his own daughter and he also lost his wife and all the padawans.
Now Rey is with him he can train her and take on Snoke and the First Order as father and daughter :)

A lot of very complicated ideas. I'm sure that the real story will be very simple.

And thus my problem with Rey Skywalker. You can not tell me that the same Luke Skywalker who could tell his friends were in pain at Bespin after only weeks of training would not be able to tell that his own daughter was alive as fully trained Jedi Master.

Imagine you are a writer for TFA. How would you make it simple, given what we know?

this honestly makes the most sense in terms of THIS film. it can all be explained within that Kanata flash back, with minimal time spent on it, while giving satisfactory-ish nods to events that went down post ROTJ and pre TFA. Rey gets pissed about it (like in MSW) as anyone would, it would be a very emotional thing to be told in all of a couple of minutes. due to that reaction though, it could be why Han dies, or why Maz's castle is blown to pieces and why Finn possibly loses a limb or has a near-death experience with Kylo. this is what makes her want to train with Luke, her uncle. this is also what makes Luke see what needs to be done. then boom, episode 8 - Rey training, Luke teaching (while having a greater role then just 'yoda/obi'). Leia and Luke reunite. Kylo and Snoke work towards a greater goal (possible corruption of Rey/Finn). again the key things this clears up is legacy of Luke (attempted Academy, Niece to follow in his footsteps, struggles to deal with past and future implications of his decisions and actions), Han and Leia's estrangement, Leia super weapon, Kylo's reasoning (you can add a few spices in with whats been said. maybe Snoke? maybe the allure of the dark side? maybe Luke wasnt the best teacher after all, or taught him too much about whats come before (dogma of jedi/too much info on grand father Vader)). i mean, sure, it might not be to EVERYONES liking -aka- no Luke child (which is a ridiculous expectation. want? no. but expectation, yes) but so far this actually SEEMS to make the most sense when all rumours and things we actually know combine.

Re: that last sentence- the second line of the proposal that you are supporting says that Kylo is Luke's son. So in that case, there is a Luke child.

I agree with rest though. Really solid theory.

What if... Kylo is the one who takes and leaves Rey abandoned on Jakku?

He doesn't have it in him to actually kill her, so he takes Rey in the Falcon and dumps her on some backwater planet hidden from everyone then leaves both Rey and the Falcon stranded there.

Just a thought. I'm currently leaning towards the Falcon was being used to get her to her family (It is a pretty fast ship I hear... smuggle her back to her family?) however Kylo or the First Order intercept the Falcon at Jakku, where Rey's "family" is killed and she is orphaned there.

One thing I'm sure of is there will be a good reason for her being stranded on Jakku if she's a legacy character.

=D= I'm not sure I agree with a whole lot of this, but this is trying to theory craft the plot and allows the characters to act rationally. Luke, who took down Vader, the emperor, and a fully constituted Empire, is not going to run for the hills because the Knights of Ren and The First Order show up, dumping his daughter on some reeking hellhole. I've no idea who or what Snoke is, but he isn't going to be more frightening than Palpatine.
If what MSW has is true--and most of the broad strokes clearly are--we need to find theories to allow the characters to behave in character. 30 Years can change someone a lot, but it won't turn Han Solo into a callous, unloving dad who would dump his child into a wasteland, nor will it make Luke Skywalker into a quivering mound of jelly.

uh, sure, but that argument is totally invalid. Luke is your favourite, hence me saying its not all about Luke. its the same for Han, its not all about Han, so not sure why you actually said that. also, fan boy is a term, not used as literal, no need to know your gender, im of the opinion its better to keep gender/sex away from things like this. its irrelevant.
but yeh, other then that, you didnt really respond to much. sure, see the movie, hopefully enjoy it, but dont act like a lot of your comments on this board arent negative, due to your feelings on Luke's character and you see and view whats happening with his character as a potential negative. i think its established you wouldnt like certain things to hapen, im just stating that its getting old seeing "i wouldnt like that" or other digs at certain potential creative decisions.

Snoke could have lured Kylo to the Dark side with the knowledge that Darth Vader was his Grandfather. Luke never told his own son the truth about the Skywalker legacy...

thats really irrelevant to the film and the story that is going to be told. in no way should the bolded part of your comment be something that the people working on these films should consider.
almost all major jedi's from what we've seen are conflicted, the only ones that keep appearing that dont are Yoda and Obi-wan, to say you dont think it should happen is ignoring so many levels on just why its so hard to be a jedi and the risks that are taken when they choose this path. even Luke was arguably close, in ROTJ. keeping in mind we are probably going to have 2-4 jedi by the time ep8 roles around (maybe at the end of it) i wouldnt be surprised to see one be tempted or even completely fall. thats just apart of star wars imho.

The simplest explanation is that Rey and the Falcon arrived on Jakku as a package. Whoever was piloting the Falcon is now dead somewhere in the desert and that Rey remembers their last instruction to her 'wait here, I'll be back'.

see my other comment, where i quote the dude i agreed with. what i want to respond to you on, is that coupled with my theory of what "fits" the best, i think the answer to your proposed thing, is that when the Academy was attacked, (assuming Luke wasnt there, or didnt get there in time, or was dealing with the immediate threat) that the Vicar (who i believe is Von Sydow) maybe got her out safely, and HE played the Obi role, possibly telling her to wait, as help will come (as it eventually does, one way or the other).

who said the bolded was talking about the story or film and being relevant nor was I even talking about the production side.[face_batting]

I don't get it, both statements are my opinions, I could be right on the first or I could be wrong not ignoring anything, just think it will go like I said and Rey doesn't turn. The 2nd one is just personal preference nothing wrong with that.:)

oh believe me, with what shes been pushing/saying of late, i agree with you. though, i doubt its pushed to the extent of not seeing any (female, POC character potentially turn (as hey, maybe that signifies strength and empowerment from being really low, possibly a turning point, and getting passed that, to come back stronger?) but yeh, i see what you mean.

The VICAR lives in a nice little village with a water supply yet tells Rey to go live in an AT-AT shell and scavenge for a Crime Lord?

Agreed. Now convince me of any scenario where Han lets his daughter AND the falcon go, and doesn't tear the galaxy a new one until he finds them.

... Or a scenario where he is so happy about finding the Falcon, "Chewie, we're home" and doesn't automatically jump to the conclusion that the girl piloting it is his daughter.

So if this is applied to Rey, her being a Solo won`t be enough of a payoff, because everyone is expecting it?

well one, it could be seen as irrelevant. two, maybe im just trigger happy as of this moment. either way, i mean no harm, im just simply responding with why "i" dont think it will or should be the case, while backing it up with what we know.
