ST Daisy Ridley (Rey) in Episode VII

I'm not sure the color of hair and eyes, and with or without the fact Kira has force powers, definitively means she is related to Leia.

Couldn't the "Force Awakens" mean that the force is "awakening" in all of us?

If Finn gets the lightsaber and has force powers, and Kira has force powers, and Kylo has force powers, and Rose has force powers, and the Chrome Trooper has force powers, and who knows how many others have force powers...

Due to this "awakening", maybe everyone will be able to use the force - thereby making ancestry and force inheritance no longer a factor?

Come on, I can't be the only one seeing the resemblance here.

If you go with totally new unrelated characters, why would you cast someone who ticks every - single - box in terms of physical appearance to work as a Skywalker relative.

If it looks like Skywalker, smells like Skywalker, tastes like Skywalker..it's probably a Skywalker.

 

It certainly looks that way. Be a total mind**** if she ends being a Sith. Rey falls, Kylo turns to the light. Kylo kills Rey in IX

 

When have you tasted or smelled Skywalker?

Do they taste like chicken?

Do they smell bad on the outside?

 

Or perhaps Daisy nailed it in the audition possibly? I'm assuming it wasn't just brunettes who auditioned for that part? I mean, if the actress playing Rey had mousey blonde hair like Luke's in ANH and blue eyes, I'm sure you'd be here stating she must be Luke's child due to that fact.

*facepalm* my argument is for her being Padme's granddaughter, who is both Leia and Luke's mother...she would look like this as either sibling's daughter..
Sometimes it feels like people forget that Luke and Leia are siblings and share the same bloodline.

My argument for Leia being the mother is based on completely different stuff and has nothing to do with the fact that I'm utterly convinced she's a Skywalker.

 

By casting someone who looks a LOT like Natalie Portman, you can easily make her Luke or Leia's kid since they both have the same grandmother.

 

tbh Daisy looks like a lot of actresses in Hollywood right now. Her "type" is very common. In the first trailer, to me she looked a lot like Hayley Atwell and Lily James.

 

My God! Why hadn't I seen this before!!!!!!!!!!!!! My eyes have been open! They are both human and female!!!!! Case close they have to be related!!!

 

I completely agree right now with what we know and without context we can not really be sure of anything; Right now we could all assume Poe and Kylo are the twins and Rey is the orphaned child of Luke. But without the complete script, correct context and actually seeing the scenes we don't know.

Fact remains she looks a LOT like her potential grandmother, and casting isn't based purely on performance, especially in this case. You can bet your ass they were looking for an exact type in physical appearance, next to performance of course. And without taking anything away from any of the actors - there are hundreds if not thousands of actors who would "nail" these roles. The ones cast have ticked more than one box.

 

And if we're looking at who was rumored for the part for a long time, Saoirse Ronan has a totally distinct look that is nothing at all like Portman and totally different coloring.

 

I'm sorry, but apart from them both being brunettes, with brown eyes. They don't look at all like each other. *shrug*

At one point Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman were rumored to have been casted, among other stuff.

That says little to nothing.

 

I think that's neither here nor there. They were looking at a LOT of actors and actresses. That's how these things go.They just happened to find a brand new actress that looks the part and apparently has some fresh acting skills to boot.

 

KK said that they did a massive search and has been looking for the right actress for a long, long time. Saoirse Ronan also said lots of actresses went in for the role. Now could she auditioned for a different role from Rachel? Possible, but I think Daisy and Ronan went in for the same role.

 

It gets like this in here every now and again.

 

It does tell you what type they were going for. Cumberbatch and Oldman are obviously very different looking guys, which tells me if they were up for the same role, they didn't have a particular appearance in mind. Similarly for Finn, with the varied casting rumors including Alex Pettyfr at one point being the frontrunner, they had no physical type in mind.

 

They probably choose her because she was the closest match to Chloe Bruce

 

It's also important to note that what actresses look like when they are casted doesn't necessarily reflect what the character will look like in full makeup (and hair colouring?).
What we got are actual footage and images of the finished character, and that character bears a very striking resemblance to Padme. It's possible this is coincidence, but pretty unlikely in my book, given the circumstances.

 

You know what ... it could have been one of the factors in casting. Watch some of her actions shots and it is easy to see how, from a distance, closely Daisy and her look.

We really don't know exactly what they were looking for (and never will), it is especially hard to know because we have no idea what Daisy brought to the table since she has such a light resume.
