I can`t imagine that the Millenium Falcon, a ship owned by Han Solo, will be at the same place as a random girl that looks oddly similar to his wife and his wife`s mother but is not related to them...

 

I find it interesting that according to this article http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/star-wars-vii-cast-how-699964, Ridley and Driver were casted back in Feburary. So were they in fact casted first?

 

I think so, yes.

 

Main protagonist and main antagonist respectively

 

Quite possible. I'd take it a step further and say opposed siblings (I hesitate to say twins since Driver is nearly a decade older than Daisy... but given that 30 year olds pretty routinely play teens/twenty-somethings all the time its possible) given that one of the initial talking points was about twins taking different paths.

Certainly the potential villains leaking out in rumors point to Daisy as the lead. Gwen as a physically powerful non-Force user would work great for an initial opponent while she's untrained. Lupita would be another female vs. female faceoff (man cuts down woman isn't nearly so dramatic) and Driver as her fallen brother has the whole yin/yang thing going for it.

By contrast the only villain who works with a male lead is Driver (Boyega or Isaac or Gleeson gunning/cutting down Lupita or Gwen just doesn't have a heroic vibe to it).

Personally though I'm expecting a red-herring hero/Dragon Ascendant setup where one of the guys is the apparent hero and Driver is the Dragon to Lupita's big bad. Only the Dragon cuts down the red-herring hero and then later goes on to betray the Big Bad (setting her up to be taken down by revealed hero Daisy) and take her power for his own, thereby setting up the final battle in Ep9 between the Yin/Yang brother and sister.

 

Entirely possible. I especially like the idea of the apparent big bad being killed off and replaced by someone else.

However, as many have said before, twins taking different paths would be too similar to LOTF...

 

But all six movies so far have had symmetry why would this new trilogy be any different.

 

It might me similar, but that's only because Yin/Yang twins in opposition happens to one of those monomythic story elements that just works.

By the same token, if the requirement is it can't resemble any EU story ever published in the last twenty years there's not going to be much you'd actually be able to do. Returning Sith, faux Sith, darkside witches, fallen Jedi, Mandalorians, Imperial Remnant, resurgant Empire, evil robots, random alien species... Its ALL been done somewhere in the EU.

But that doesn't mean Ep7 can't do a similar plot (Yin/Yang siblings in opposition) in a completely different way than the EU did. Frankly, the concept was executed so poorly in the EU (Jaina, the only character who can actually defeat her brother, all but disappears from the story until the final books in the series in favor of a side-plots like a dying Boba Fett meeting his granddaughter and ex-wife) that I would welcome the prospect of seeing the concept done right with Daisy as the main character throughout the entire story and with her brother being a real sinister threat instead of coming off as Darth Crybaby who dies like a punk in the end.

 

I want the ST to break the mold by having men and women fight one another as equals. I don't want men only fighting men and women only fighting women - I want heroes fighting villains.

I want the characters to be strong on the inside, where it counts, not according to their gender.

Oh god I love these two. If the villain wants to steal the show he/she has to work hard.

EDIT: Do we know who made them? If it is official we can/should look at the costumes they are wearing. Luke in his old black suit, Daisy in a tank top....

 

Gwendoline Christie has already done that. Maybe she`ll bring it over to Star Wars?

 

I don't think that's possible at this point. There was no social media when the OT and TPM came out and it was just barely coming into being by the time AOTC and ROTS came out, so there was no opportunity for the actors to win us over before the movies even came out–we only had their performances and behind the scenes interviews and conversations to go by. With Facebook and Twitter now, we have a chance to fall in love with the actors before we even meet the characters–and many already have, with John and Daisy. Whatever happens from this point on, everyone will go into VII expecting to be wowed by John and Daisy. Me included.

 

These two are soo freaking adorable that I'm like

 

Daisy was wearing a tank top in the cast pic, they have Carrie in her slave outfit ... always love Leia but umm no slave bikini this time please.

Well, from everything I have seen about Daisy ( which is not much ) got to say, J.J. made a great choice. John and her have this much fun off-screen they probably mesh great on screen.

 

With John and Daisy being so likable and obviously grateful for this opportunity. I think Lupita's tweets are having the opposite effect on me.

It's like they're so grateful and then I see Lupita's is just glamour shots and RT other people talking about how beautiful she is. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, it's just having the opposite effect on me from what you described above.
