    Try going to Disney World on Celebration weekend and you might see her there.

    As Chloe Bruce [Star Wars VIII (Stunt Double: Daisy Ridley)] was in Dubrovnik during the filming with other stunt doubles and there were sets at Pinewood tied to that filming, it still could suggest that Rey's character is there even without Ridley going to Dubrovnik (for something beyond an interactive flashback again). Progressing to the city (whatever Dubrovnik is) from the country (Ahch-To) would be like Looper in reverse.

    Chloe could be playing background extras she may not be just doing Rey alone.

    True. But it's expensive to fly her down there (she's top in her field) and why risk injury doing something mundane as background stunts when she's the main character's stunt double... Just my thoughts looking from a business and insurance perspective. Not to say they wouldn't do that though.

    Am pretty sure this is Chloe and I don't think she's playing Rey here;

    "Androgynous" is absurd. The author is playing into the idea that female action stars must wear catsuits.

    I've always thought androgynous meant gender ambiguity and Rey physically resembles a female. But the writer's word choice reasoning was this: [face_dunno]

    I use that word to describe tough athletic fighting women who are not wearing makeup, dresses and heels. Definition: Androgyny is the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics.

    Just goes to show you can be technically correct and still not recognize that most of your readers will take what you've written in a different way. Better to find a different phrase rather than argue about intent.

    I'd say Rey definitely leans towards the feminine. Her environment didn't encourage makeup, dresses, and heels, but she made a very feminine outfit fitting for jakku just the same. She keeps her hair long, if somewhat plainly styled, and her wraps may not be a dress persay, but it has a very dress like quality to it. The shot of her fleeing maz's castle after the vision looks straight out of a historical drama to me. And she seems to have insisted on keeping the damn thing for TLJ.

    Her femininity it actually one of the things I adore about the character so it rubs me the wrong way when someone tries to diminish it.

    i can see rey as a combination of masculine and feminine characteristics in the traditional sense (also this refers to personality characteristics not simply how one dresses). i just wouldn't use the word androgynous even if the word is coming more into style to mean that.

    being a combination of both wouldn't mean that rey isn't feminine.

    eta: DR i think said that she thought that both girls and boys might be able to relate to her character.

    It has nothing to do with the TFA's story but Ridley said her warm up song for acting on set was 'I'll Make A Man Out of You' from Mulan.

    She's a lady and she enjoys being one them both Rey and Daisy alike. She did the women's march, she's very much a feminist and pro LGBT and has an adverse taste to Trump. She dresses in trousers, skirts, shirts, jumpers. Rey's clothing despite been in the dessert is very feminine. She's not androgynous plus I don't get how fighting is androgynous either. Fighting is just fighting except men are more stronger and powerful because they are built differently. Yeah the Wing Chun has roots foundered by Ng Mui so do we call that androgynous because she was female? I find that statement rather puzzling [face_dunno] Rey as character and Daisy completely, is a proud member of womanhood.
