ST Daisy Ridley (Rey) in the ST

This could be her outfit for episode IX, similar to Luke's black ROTJ outfit. 100% sure she is Luke's daughter.

I was actually pretty disappointed to see that Luke had the prequel-era outfit on.

 

I can deal with that, for two reasons:

-It's kind of reminiscent of Obi Wan's desert outfit from ANH (which I think is more what they were going for anyway). And it calls back to his "desert farmboy" days.

-Luke is sort of the "bridge" between the two eras of Jedi, so it kind of makes sense for him anyway. Not that I'd have minded him wearing something else, but I can live with it.

But the Jedi moving forward should be more "flexible" in general. And that includes what they wear. If they MUST have a "defining" accessory, let it be their lightsabers.

 

Now we're complaining about robes?

 

I would prefer them to have several outfits for several occasions, like one for formal appearance with a more robe like style and one for battle + maybe another for normal life situations.

 

No, we're discussing one possible future direction both for this character and the Jedi as a whole. That's kind of what we do on fan boards after all.

I would be ok with her dressing like all the Jedi before. Just as Luke does. Always feel like some fans complain about all the Jedi stuff because they want Luke and the upcoming Jedi to marry, have kids and a nice house with a dog or something. Jedi had a monkish-warrior life.

Then you have Jedi wannabes like Kanan or Rey in TFA who are not dressed like the Jedi.

 

Does anyone else think Rey might not be her actual name?

 

I guess the song will be for an upcoming Disney flick.
But, at 1:20... Can anyone make out what she's saying about Gleeson after their chat last week? The reporter cut in when Daisy was mumbling something.
Unless Rey gets captured, there's no reason for her to share screen time with Hux, right?

Yeah heaven forbid we want them do some new stuff with the Jedi, now that they have to perfect opportunity. Yeah, haven forbid that these newbie NOT wholesale an old Order that, not only do they have ZERO connection to, but who, in their moment of greatest crisis, utterly and completely failed and were exterminated as a result.

Yeah, perhaps some changes are in order. And yeah, as someone who DOESN'T like the "no attachments" idea, thinks that it goes against the OT as well, and who just flat out despises the whole "heroes must have miserable personal lives in order to be true heroes," anything that the ST can do to sink those clichés is A-OK in my book.

I agree, I was thinking it's either short for something, a nickname someone on Jakku gave her, or just simply something made up. I do like "Rey" tho, so if I am wrong no complaints here.

 

Maybe her "real" name is the original Kira we heard early leaks about, and she picked up Rey from the flight helmet. Though spelled differently - Raeh - the pronunciation could be the same and somehow the spelling got garbled. ... Maybe.

 

About Skellig Michael filming and she was sick one of the days during filming, while Mark tried to do serious acting. It was hard climbing the steps, but the man in front of her carrying the big camera had a harder job, so she doesn't want to complain about her legs. Askd about visiting any place in the area, she answered that they visited a pub and she had her first Guinnes. Asked about working with Gleeson since she is a great fan of him, she said she had wished working with him and who knows what the future brings. Asked about another Irish actor she would like to work with, Michael Fassbender (she didn't know he is Irish).

That was a short summary of the important parts.

 

Its possible her birth name was different, but shes been using Rey most of her life, I can't see her adopting anything else over the course of the films. I mostly want her to get a last name, having just "rey" as a search guide can be very frustrating.
Daisy looked amazing last night and I'm so excited to hear she's going to record a song! She has a lovely voice!
