I think it's safe to say that that is no longer canon or considered relevant. It was always a bizarre idea that the less body parts there are, the less connection to the force.
Luckily, there's no in-universe support for this idea, and we still have Yoda with the best description of the way the force works.

(and let's remember that midichlorian count is about numbers per cell, not per person)

I hope I don't get into trouble here, but am I the only one thats annoyed that the physical trainers made daisey focus on bulking up for TLJ? She has a naturally lean and fit physique. Why did they feel the need to try to bulk her shoulders up. I mean, i'd understand if her breastasis were so large that they influence her silhouette, but, as i said, she's a slim bodied lady. Agility should've been their focus IMO. I hope they allow her natural shape to flourish from now on.

    So she could do this....

I heard the lightsaber props they use for the battles are quite heavy, so she probably wanted to get stronger so she could do a lot of the fighting herself and not leave most of it to her stunt double.

As an owner of a similar prop to those that they used, I can confirm this. Its really heavy and I have problems with wider swings :D

Wierd!! I woulda thought a lightsaber would be lighter than the average two-handed blade.

Am I the only one who thinks she's not that bulky? She's fit and very toned and looks like a woman who actually climbs and fights on the regular. Which is exactly how Rey should look. People talk about Daisy like she looks like a WWE wrestler or looks like a man which is just bizarre to me.

And I never heard the training focused on her bulking up - it focused on her being able to realistically perform fight scenes, the side affect of which was bulking up. They weren't training her to be a body builder.

Does anyone know which interview these images belong to? I guess it's one of the first TFA interviews but I can't find it

She's still in her natural slim form here. Compare this to the pics in the vanity fair piece

Well, that training session and the vanity fair pics all took place during the same time period, so I don't know what to tell you.

It's kinda strange you're asking why an actress, who plays a Jedi, would want to bulk up a little bit and get stronger. Mark Hamill did the same thing for ESB.

I don't know whether it's canon or not, but it comes from the mind of the person who created the Force and it shows George's perspective about Anakin's ability to control it. That said, I don't think he has some formula for x amount of flesh possessing y amount of Force potential, I believe he was saying that Anakin was becoming a machine therefore less human. So, like R2D2 or C3PO trying to command the Force, there's just less lifeform to him. He's more machine so he looses some of his ability to command it like he did prior to.

It's also worth noting her character probably isn't half starving most of the time anymore. The bulk is good. Helps her to kick butt. There's no problem here. o_O

Mark didn't look noticeably different. Plus his character was supposed to age during the time skips between films. You guys say it's because the props are heavy, fine. I just prefer Daisey's natural weight.

Honestly, Blastaar what does it really matter? How does it affect her character? Why should Daisy conform to what you prefer for Rey? She works her butt off in training, even when she's not filming. She seems to enjoy it as well. So what's the big deal to you?

At the end of the day it really doesn't matter what you prefer. If her character goes from a jakku scavenger who has to struggle for food, into a Jedi Knight, it makes sense why Daisy felt it necessary to hit the weight room and get stronger.

When a guy bulks up he's the guy, when a woman does it she's unnatural. There is nothing wrong with muscular women, they are body beautiful besides Daisy is really not that big. Her waist is tiny.

Its just a personal opinion. Its no different from someone saying they're not really feeling the direction of a character's visual design. If thats a problem, we can just scratch this whole convo.

    JediAce1

Gee thanks. I totally thought that my own personal opinion should ONLY be reviewed by daisey's trainers and am sooooo crushed that my opinion on the matter, doesn't matter.
