I think killing Dass would be a major downer for those of us that have been following this arc since it was a Republic comic. It should end on some 'up' note. I know it's Dark Times and all but killing Dass after this arc wouldn't give me a notion of hope in Dark Times. I don't think DT can be THAT dark THIS soon.

Dark Times is a series. You don't kill central characters . . . unless you're Steven Erikson, who'll kill anyone at any time without a whisper of forewarning. Though with him, death isn't exactly so final . . .

I'm pleased to see such well drawn characters like Jennir and his affable spikehead companion. Very pleasant change from Twi'leks and Rodians, and don't think I wasn't aware of the sweeping camera angles close up and far.

Randy's already said that they think this is one of the darkest SW stories ever.

The dark times were . . . dark. Deaths will happen. Note also that further solicits mention Bomo and the crew, but not Dass. I'd be surprised if Dass didn't die.

And that is why I am using this emoticon in order to help save Dass. [face_praying]

I agree that Dass has a lot of potential, so on one level it does seem like a waste to kill him off so quickly. On the other hand, handled well, Bomo killing him would almost certainly make for great storytelling, which I have no doubt is always DH's primary goal. And with he of the hat appearing as a lead character in the next arc it's not as if we'll lack for a strong Jedi character with great potential for character development. And we know K'Kruhky's not gonna die . . . at least not permanently ;)

This could well be true. Perhaps starting as bleak as can be is a good thing in this arc and this comic. But saying losing Dass is a big deal is overstating it, perhaps. He may have potential but I'm sure there are more Jedi on the run that are as interesting or more. I mean he's no Quinlan Vos. And I'm not just being slightly flip.

The TPB, or the story of the series?

What if Dark Times was Tales of the Purge and each 5 issue story arc dealt with a new Jedi being destroyed over the span of 5 issues. There could be some reoccuring non-Jedi characters but for the most part after ever 5 arc series the Jedi was either dead, dark, marooned (Brand anyone?), imprisoned, or otherwise not a Jedi anymore. You could have Jedi going out in a blaze of glory, Jedi cowering in fear, Jedi disappearing into the force, or Jedi sacrificing themselves so others can get away. Jedi fighting clonetroopers, Jedi fighting dark Jedi, Jedi fighting bounty hunters, and even Vader and Palpatine from time to time.

Maybe they don't even fall in a neat 5 story arc but I think it would be something different if we saw Dark Times play out this way starting with the death of Dass.

So, this was out today at my shop despite the holiday on Monday. Apparently the only times they don't get the regular shipment are UPS holidays and apparently UPS goes on Columbus day.

Whoa! Dark is definitely the word! Dass lives, for now, but the man who bought Resa didn't buy her as a servant, he bought her to eat her. Which he did. The first few pages are directly quoted dialogue from Dark Lord of Palps speaking to Vader in orbit around Murkhana. For now, Dass keeps his lightsaber and continues on with Bomo and the crew of the Uhumele. A good issue, and a satisfying conclusion to the arc, but after so much waiting bound to feel more than a bit anticlimactic, despite the severely dark element of the story mentioned in the spoiler above.

I got myself hyped up on my own idea that its a little bit of a let down that he survived. Well, then... maybe next issue.

Wow....that's something else. Do we know what species the man who bought her was? I'm not a regular reader of Dark Times but this has piqued my interest...

Really, I guess, such a thing isn't without precedence in Star Wars since didn't Wuher use Greedo's body to make liquor for Jabba? Still, it is kinda....creepy, especially having looked up who the main course was on wiki. I'm going to have to remember something like this for my RP, especially as Halloween draws near.
