Are there any other Darth Bane fans out there who would like to see a Darth Bane graphic novel?
Darth Bane is such a great character and I think he deserves his own graphic novel and to be explored beyond the books.
The descriptions of the characters and locations in the books by Drew Karpyshyn were so in depth, and I think it would be great to see a trilogy of graphic novels based on the books.
There is also the ten year period in rule of two when Bane is training Zannah. I think it would be good to explore this timeframe.
    That do you guys think?

It's called Jedi Vs Sith and it came out in 2002 by Darko Macan. It's an awesome and very different kind of trade for the EU. Very contended on these boards. Brutal stuff with almost anime style art. It covers many of the events in SWDBPOD. Check it out!

I know. I have a complete set of all six comics. They have to be some of my most prized comics :)
I like it how it is the ending of path of destruction at the batle of ruusan. It fits in perfectly with the book
What I meant was for Dark Horse to release a brand new graphic novel about Darth Bane.

First they should make a abckground for Banes time period, like they did with Kotor.

I think that comic book series and a trilogy is plenty for one Sith Lord. I like Bane, but enough is enough......time to move on to the others.

Only if they erase Jedi vs. Sith from continuity and apologize for the wasted opportunity.

When I said "fits in perfectly", I didn't mean the accuracy of the comic in comparison to the book. I know that there are a lot of differences between the two.
What I meant was, jedi vs sith fits in as a nice companion comic series to the book.

Catherine's main concern is that the comic predated the novel by a fair bit, so calling the comic the "companion" is like saying it was nice when Don McLean covered Madonna's famous hit "American Pie".

More like saying the Old Testament is a nice companion to Paradise Lost.

Enough with Bane already. We've got the trilogy and JedivsSith.[face_talk_hand]

You know what I want? I want John Ostrander to penn a novel about The One Sith. (Yeah yeah. I know. Just because he's a great comic book writer doesn't mean he'll make the transition to prose. Bullpants!!) Give the man a contract, make sure he remembers no pictures and let him run wild![face_mischief]

Am I the only one who hates Jedi vs. Sith comics? Story itself is good and I like it, but terrible art is unacceptable. Those "medival" jedi camps, Sith army which looks like a bunch of peasants and starship - galleon? Thats pants and it's definitely non-Star Wars

No, lots of people hate it.

So Star Wars is only allowed to have medieval asian clothing and including medieval western clothing ruins it?

I believe that the medieval clothing is intended to reflect the 'chivalric' themes of the story. Its supposed to seem like a "heroic age" long in the past. It isn't supposed to be the Star Wars of Luke Skywalker's time, its supposed to be what Luke Skywalker might have imagined when Obi Wan was explaining what the Jedi were like.

Ok. there is Jedi vs Sith. but, Bane is a minor character. I focuses more on the kids who were taken to Ruusaan & on the Jedi. You don't really get to know Bane. In the novel DBPoD, you see a much bigger role for Bane. You see how he maneuvers Kaan into using the thought bomb.

I would like to see graphic novels about Bane. Especially to see his training of Zannah & his further exploration of the Darkside, & especially that cool battle with the Jedi in RoT.

You get to know enough. And he dominates the 'screen' in a way PoD Bane, generally, fails to. Which is a shame.

You see a much bigger role for a different character using his name, granted.

He's even an interesting character and one I enjoyed following - he just wasn't Darth Bane.

Of course, I didn't realise that at on my first reading, since JvS came later for me.

No, you don't really get to know him in JvS. Like how he came to his conclusions, or see his manipulating Kaan into making that stupid decision.

You do see him attempting to get the Sith to use their heads & powers in a better way to destroy the Jedi, then he's gone until after the thought Bomb.

In the novel, Bane is portrayed better. You get a better feel for his motives: why he despises the Brotherhood, his relationship to Githany, how he comes to the conclusion about the RoT.

JvS just gives you the gist of things.

That's because he didn't manipulate Kaan into making that stupid decision.

As Uli says, JvS!Bane and Podrotdoe!Bane are two completely different characters that happen to share the same name.

Okay, so we are getting mixed reactions here. Many of you say that Jedi Vs Sith wasn't that good. If that is the case then you must agree that Bane deserves another graphic novel. He is such an important character in star wars. If it wasn't for him then the events of the films wouldn't have happened. If you look at other characters such as fan favourites Boba Fett and Mara Jade, they have loads of different publications about them. Surley for a character so important in star wars he deserves more than just three books.
Don't get me wrong, the books are spectacular, quite easily some of the best that I have read, but such a great character he deserves to be explored more

i thought jedi vs sith was good. olny one thing bugged me was farfalla and his ship. farfalla was a dirty coward and his ship looked like a 15th century ship that is spaceworthy.

Check out this thread for more on the Farfalla wooden ship-issue.

Yup. He weren't no dandy-boy. "What is a fop?", you ask? Is it someone who sucks farts out of dead chickens? No. Is it a large mammal who stinks of feta cheese? Wrong again. Is it a festering pile of mammoth-dung slick from the morning dew on some garbage-barge trolling the icy waters of Stockholm? Hardly.

Sure, he looks like he came straight out of the Age of Enlightenment; he carried a handkerchief and cheered, "Ooh! Toddle-loo-loo!" But suffice it that great heroes like Farfalla are often mistaken for fops; I'm sure it was hardly a problem for him to be referred to in the same breath as Don Diego de la Vega or Sir Percy Blakeney.

So what, we're dealing with a Tale of two Banes here?

Look, if you want to make a good Bane graphis novel, then it should be based on the 3 novels about him.

The Bane in JvS is nothing like the character in the novels & IMHO the charcter in the novels is better.

But, don't get me wrong, I like JvS its a good story. Farfalla wasn't a coward. he was a pretty boy though, but no coward.

but there is one question though: at the end of the graphic novel, it gives the impression that ALL the Jedi & Sith died(except Bane & Zannah). You see a shot that looks like Farfalla is also dying. I don't have the book infront of me. But in the novels, Farfalla is alive & it seems only the people that were in the vicinity of the Thought Bomb.

    Which is it?
