The Star Wars book confirms that Darth Bane's spirit is said to haunt Moraband. So Yoda actually encountered his specter there. So its likely others have encountered his specter before, and it may even be a source of empowerment for would-be Sith Lords kinda like it was in the EU with Sith spirits and Holocrons.

The Darth Bane stories are among the many EU stuff I still haven't got around to reading but want to read at some point. Whether it's a show or film the smart thing to do would be like they did with Timothy Zahn, consult with and maybe hire Drew Karpyshyn to work on the project if possible. He says he hasn't been informed of anything but they'd be kind of dumb not to go to the guy who helped define Bane's story. Like Zahn he'll have to change some things probably maybe Lucas will be consulted if whoever runs the project decides to do so which they should since he's one of the few EU characters George had a hand in creating and then take the best of both visions and whatever new ideas are brought on to create the official canon version of Bane. Zannah being a point of view character so to speak would also work as she becomes someone who falls under his influence as the audience watches her change.

The timeline is pretty far from the Phantom Menace but that also leaves a lot of room to fill in the gaps and go anywhere while maybe setting up some stuff for the future of the galaxy but not being tied to the main story which is what the Mandalorian set out to be and what people latched onto and with some potential ideas like this they could be leaning into that more. They really want to leave the main series alone for a long time if needs be and even if elements from it are around like a Mandalorian or a Storm Trooper it doesn't have to be someone we know they are a whole new character and this is their story and they are living in this wide galaxy which is something that has appealed to many people myself included and why so many fan stories exist and often focus on this idea because it's easier to create your own character with the established toys so to speak rather than try to worry if someone fans recognise is in character enough with what you're writing.

Bane is someone older fans have come to recognise and while they'll be judging this new version to see if it lives up the old one like they did Thrawn it has an opportunity to entice new viewers with this unexplored culture of older Jedi and Sith lore that long time fans recognise and want to see further developed in the way that the Mandalorian sort of is doing and seems to be diving further into in Season 2 in regards to Mandalorian culture which already has been seen onscreen in Clone Wars and Rebels but the casual fan might not have watched them because they were animated and they were assumed to be just for kids and not as important than a live action film. Long time fans can recognise they are just as valid but most people will only see a big Star Wars live action film or the Mandalorian which was live action television and could be seen as adult. This has the potential to be more adult but I can see some people worrying they won't take it far enough. Dealing with Sith culture is darker than the Mandalorian culture which while it can get rough at times they ultimately are warriors who have some form of honour code and some have potential to be good guys.

Bane's story could be seen as a fall from grace idea if they wanted some way for audiences to follow him. Audiences also seem to be big into anti-heroes or villains at least that's what Hollywood seems to think since they seem to be focused on that all the time now because villains are more flawed, potentially tragic and people wonder how they got the way they did but for a lot of people a curiosity is all it is. If the story focuses on the fraction of the Jedi Order following the Sith's destruction we could see Bane lurk in the shadows and send Zannah on missions maybe infiltrate the Jedi with flashbacks exploring how the galaxy got this way and how Bane came to join the Sith. Again don't know much but I assume he was also a Jedi and perhaps like an Xavier and Magneto or Obi-Wan and Anakin in the context of this franchise he maybe had a mentor or friend he grew apart from and now they're on opposite sides. Bane could be a main player but not the hero so to speak.

If successful they could go further back to the Old Republic era like a lot of people are hoping whether it's stuff related to the online game or Knights of the Old Republic with Revan or they could go slightly further and like someone else mentioned focus on Plagueis and Palpatine. You can bring James Luceno on and have him help develop a new canon Plagueis origin. Maybe by the time it comes out I'll have finished the original novel which I've been reading on and off for the past 8 years. I'm a bad reader. Too much to read and not a lot of time. So again who knows with this concept but could be cool and interesting if they planned it right.

The Bane novels are the only EU books I read (until Bloodline was released before TFA) in the years between the PT and the ST. Not that the novels will be followed by Disney LFL, but Bane didn't start out as a Jedi. He was a miner with force abilities he didn't know how to control and ends up killing his abusive father in his sleep. He gets himself in hot water when he uses the force to cheat at sabaac and kills an officer of the Republic during a fight over the game. He is forced to flee his home planet and ends up joining the Sith army where he gets noticed by a Sith Lord who then takes him to the Sith Academy on Korriban. (Yes I know the name changed, but that's what it's referred to in the book) The whole series was a really good read, I've been meaning to read it again.

Bane definitely would not be a hero but I'd still watch a show centered around the Sith Lord who created the rule of two. I'd especially love to see another lightsaber wielding female Sith besides Asajj. The relationship between Zannah and Bane, the will she or won't she kill her master, and when could play out pretty well if written decently.

I think the orbalisks attached to his body would be more interesting and unique than a samurai costume.

Maybe, but i think they'll go with the samurai look, Filoni talks about how he's like Vader supposed to be samurai infuenced and i think the canon sources has picture of him in his samurai armor. Sure he coud have both, originally he was going to have the orbalisks in the mortis arc with Revan.

This is how he appeared in The Secrets of the Jedi book. So I assume they'd go for this look, although under the helmet is anyone's guess. Would they go for the Vin Diesel look, or something else? I just had a horrible vision of Vin Diesel appearing in a SW film....... I must say, I've always been a fan of the idea that Darth Vader's armour was based on Darth Bane's look, in-universe.

For some reason i can't see the picture but i bet it's his samurai look. I love if he's just an athlete who is fit and not this huge hulk man that many fans thinks off. When we get Darth Bane it won't be like his book counter part they won't cast a huge guy like David Batista.

I say go with the look that’s less He-Man/ Power Rangers. That rules out the orbalisk/ giant coffee beans armor for me, and favors the samurai. Though I’d be open to other interpretations.

Whether it's someone at Disney/Lucasfilm, or someone in the ether, making up stuff as they go, a lot of these rumors floating about feel like someone is just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. Not to say there isn't any validity, or a nugget of truth to these rumors, but without any confirmation, they remain just that, a rumor.

As far as a Darth Bane show or movie goes, I think it would be a hard sell for the casual fan, especially with the timeline of when the show is set. The Mandalorian, being set shortly after ROTJ, allows it to use recognizable images, such as stormtroopers, that appeal to the casual fan and give them something familiar to help draw them in even though the show focuses on new original characters. A show set in the time of Darth Bane does not have that luxury. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it cannot tell a great story that eventually draws in the casual fan, but lacking a level of familiarity does make it tougher to hook those fans from the get go.

Should this idea come to fruition, I believe it would be better off not being focused on Darth Bane, but more on the events of the time. The rise of Darth Bane was a result of the Jedi/Sith wars, and the Sith infighting, more than it was of a Sith lord rising to power to dominate and dictate the events. There would have to be an extensive backstory provided that leads up to the rise of Darth Bane as the sole survivor, and creator of the Rule of Two, especially with the Sith basically going into hiding after Bane's implementation of the Rule of Two.

With this idea, though, there are positives, as well. We could see the original Je'daii order be brought back into canon. And while the original Je'daii order story was set thousands of years before the time of Bane, there is nothing to say they cannot truncate the timeline to make the split of the Je'daii to be the immediate precursor of the Jedi/Sith wars. Also, I would rather Bane not be a fallen Jedi. We've seen that too many times already. I want Darth Bane to be a Sith, and only a Sith. Born of the evil of the dark side. I also hope we can finally see a truly inherently powerful character. One whose abilities are not amplified by making others inept.

That would be the coolest thing in the history of cool. On a thing that's kinda-sorta off-topic, I would love to see more shows that take place around the Old Republic era, not just Bane-focused, but on things in the Old Republic era introduced in new canon, like Tarre Vizsla. I would LOVE to see more of Tarre Vizsla.

I would love that too and maybe some tv shows and movies taking place after the sequel trilogy like hundreds or thousands of years into the future.

I would call that the thousands years era into the future named knights of the new republic.

When the old republic movies or tv shows happen at some point even though it hasn’t been announced, us fans will be blown away, but more so with causal audiences especially mainstream glamorous women audiences or Hollywood looking movie star guys with are going to be totally in one hell of a shock, awe and surprise when they see the films on the big screen.

Especially with the sith, and mandalorian wars taking place during the old republic era or maybe the acolyte tv series taking place during the high republic.
