Maul got only his chicken-droid legs fixed by Talzin's green ichor. And his Lotho-Minor damaged mind restored as well. His upper body and his force-abilities have not been enhanced by Talzin. That was already almost perfect.
Maul wasn't under the control of someone else, as Savage was after his transformation. Likewise, Talzin didn't need to imbue Maul with any extra power, as he was already a Sith Lord. She restored his health and sanity, and those mechanical legs made him a whole person again. I wish they left those legs on him as well.
Actually I also thought about a possible link between Savage and Mortis arc. And I wondered why there is no mother in Mortis. Could it be that if she is really the absent mother, Talzin 's death was anticipated long ago in TCW? And who then is The daughter, when Maul is The Son , as darklordoftech presumed? I hope not Ahsoka. Darkslayer: You are right. With the droid-legs Maul was nearly as big as Savage, a thing, Mother Talzin intended. Obi-Wan stated that in "Revenge". While the Mandos in "Eminence" preferred legs in normal proportion to the upper body. Also there are two hights of Maul given in Wookiepedia (1,75; 2,13) I like Maul's original legs most, then the Mando-legs follow. I think Lord Maul feels the same.
Unless Talzin imbued Baby Maul with her essence/power as an infant, when handed over to Palpatine, and he's always been a sleeper agent of sort, one whose original mission was prematurely cut short.
I think Maul's dialogue with Dooku in the prison was shortcut too. Can't believe Dooku to ask Maul after the bases of the Shadow Collective without any pathetical introduction and small talk. I expected more interaction of these two in SoD.
Wait.....im pretty sure someone said sheev is mauls father.I havent read the comic.anyone care to elaborate? My friend got to read it once and he said nothing is said about Mauls daddy, except Talzin is Mauls mother.
No, he's definitely not Sidious' son. Maul's father was an unknown nightbrother. There was a discussion here or in the other SOD-Thread about this issue but the result about Sidious being Maul's father was quite definitely negative.
I just had the idea that Mother Talzin after her completion in the flesh, given, she had had enough time in SoD #4 could had given back Maul his whole body too. So just for declination: Mother Talzin: I'm complete! Darth Maul: We are complete! Darth Sidious (after his arrival on Dathomir): You are complete! General Grievous: Why can't I be complete too? (a big cough)
Haha, I wonder if that would have been possible. The living Force was able to fully restore Talzin, but she was able to preserve herself via Spirit Ichor after the resurrection of Maul. I'm not sure the restoration process could bring back limbs, organs, etc - but the Water of Life does heal people... Maul's full restoration would bring the galaxy several new possibilities, including offspring.
Hi Mother Talzin, After Savage did find Maul, it took her body to restore Maul's mind and giving life to his mechanical limbs. After her completion on Dooku's expense there was enough life left in the old stag to fight for her quite a bit. And I guess, if Sidious and Grievous came later, hapless Dooku would have met his undoing while Maul would have been fully restored as well. Including the chance of fathering children.
Son of Dathomir 1-4 are now available in single issues on Comixology for those of you who don't want to pay an arm and a leg for physical copies. I was lucky enough to find them randomly at Hastings in a back issue drawer for 2.99 each a couple months ago, but I know they have been hard to come by. Hopefully Marvel will reprint the trade soon. https://www.comixology.com/Star-War...FnZS92aWV3L2Rlc2t0b3AvZ3JpZExpc3QvbGlzdDkzOTk
Has also been available on Marvel Unlimited for some time. I'm currently reading the series via MU, actually. It's... OK. I expected better.
Grevious getting to tear stuff up is way fun. Is the DH trade of this almost impossible to find? What if this gets published in one of those Marvel epic collections with a Legends label slapped on it, ahhhh!
I believe it's a canon story. The first comic book story officially part of the new canon, even though it was published by Dark Horse, since it's a TCW story.
Yeah, 'tis, but Marvel seems to be publishing a lot of DH's stuff in those Legends epic collections. Even though it's canon, will Marvel's eventual publication of Son of Dathomir land unceremoniously in a Legends collection? What will you do, oh Marvel? Only The Watcher knows!
That's not the new Watcher. That's the villain that helped kill him. I think... Spoiler ...Nick Fury is technically the new Watcher for Earth. Unless that's already been changed.
Son Of Dathomir is canon like Dark Disciple is, does not matter if it SOD was published by DH. I did like the old Dark Horse Jedi Quest book, it predicted the future in TCW.
Vorax Marvel published it later as well, without the Legends brand. http://marvel.com/comics/series/20147/star_wars_darth_maul_-_son_of_dathomir_2014
