Mysterious Figure of the Unknown Planet sounds like a power metal album

One of the many missed opportunities of the sequel trilogy was not using Plagueis. It would have tied the trilogies together - and then be further connected to and explored by the Acolyte.

Maybe we will get a data bank entry for the mysterious figure on the official site today.

Almost as good as my fictional high school metal band, Table Death Chair.

This is an odd complaint given who was revealed to be behind it all and how that character obviously connects the trilogies together far more than Plagueis would.

How would it tie the Trilogies together, he is not even mentioned before ROTS. All he would be is a new villain. So connecting all Trilogies is Sheev Palpatine...

Technically this could have been some random creepy dude who liked to watch Qumi bathe

One of the purposes of the show is to get the audience thinking, questioning what has gone before. Watching the season finale I found myself questioning what was seen on screen, wondering whether what has been written in novels and comics could be overwritten. Palps doesn't confirm he is Plagueis' apprentice, only hints at it. Palps says he was taught about the Dark Side by his master, that much is obvious as knowledge being passed from master to apprentice was the Sith way. Palps finally says that Plagueis was killed by his apprentice and finding it amusing that someone so powerful was scared of losing his power. All that questioning from a simple shot, I want more, I want to see this mysterious character and just what he's capable of.

Yes. Palpatine is a common thread in all three trilogies. Im not a big fan of him returning after being vanquished in ROTJ and I can’t be convinced he was the plan for the ST all along. I thought Plagueis would have been a better villain than Snoke. After vanquishing Sidious, the next obvious bigger badder villain to me is the master who trained Sidious.

It would tie the prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy through Plagueis. I didn’t say he would connect all three SW trilogies. I should have been more clear.

Okay, so assuming this is Plagueis... I have a major question: Do we know for sure that Plagueis was Palpatine's master?

Palpatine tells Anakin about the Plagueis tragedy, and says Plagueis' apprentice killed him in his sleep, and then later says, "My master taught me everything about the Force, even the nature of the dark side." Those lines make no direct indication of Plagueis being Palpatine's master.

The reason I ask is that introducing Plagueis at this stage inherently means that Qimir and Osha will eventually be replaced by Palpatine, and so there's no real tension about Plagueis' fate in the intervening time. But, what if Plagueis is killed by either Qimir or Osha? That would be quite the shocker, and of course, get more than a few folk all jammed up.

I still think it's likely that Plagueis remains around until Palpatine shows up, but just wanted to pose a different dramatic scenario that would be in line with this series' bold storytelling choices.

It’s ambiguous in ROTS whether or not Plagueis was Palpatine’s master, but I think it was confirmed as canon in the ROS novelization (if I remember correctly.)

A few novels have canonised that Plagueis was Palpatine’s master and it was in Lucas’ original script for Revenge of the Sith, so I imagine they’re treating it as a given.

(Also Plagueis droid 114D is canon, Palpatine ends up inheriting the droid from his master as a sort of heirloom he keeps with him.)

So you think Plagueis is aware of this whole new master and apprentice thing with Qumi and is okay with multiple Sith or he's watching in secret (as the shot kind of implies as he's hiding and all)

    Watching in secret. Literally.

Qimir probably wants Osha's help to take down DP, his Master. DP, might want Osha as well. I could easily see them developing more of a bond and relationship (awww, shucks) only for DP to try drive a wedge between them, and pit them against one another so that he can take the winner. Totally Sith style.

Definitely a "You must choose... power or your lover. Helpful hint: If you choose your lover, you will die" scenario.

Osha and Qimir are going to get stuck on babysitting duties for a young Naboo toddler not menacingly named Sheev

A loose thought. Could it be that, at this time, Plagueis is still he apprentice -- that he is the titular Acolyte?

I'd love that. I think Qimir is a way better character than what little has been established about Plagueis. Also if Qimir or Osha or whoever kills Plagueis and his research is lost, that would complement the fact that in ROTS it turns out that Palpatine doesn't actually know how to use the dark side to save Padme, despite leading Anakin to believe that he did.

Maybe Darth Plagueis was also the creation of a vergence, and we've yet to see his other half, Darth Pestilence.

I like that Darth Plagueis is already the Sith master. And both Qimir and Osha are doomed as we know the Palpatine story

Yeah. I like that we, who know Plagueis, already understand the tragedy of that last shot. These two are totally doomed. And Osha made a catastrophically bad choice.

And we can have 65-70 years of storytelling with Darth Plagueis before he meets and recruits Palpatine to be his apprentice. Qimir and Osha are just one of his future pupils. Did he try to make Nightsisters into Sith?

I've seen people make the visual connection between that shot and the secret wedding of Anakin and Padme. The far greater parallel is that both relationships are destined to be ripped to pieces and descend into hell.
