Given that Headland has officially confirmed that this guy is indeed Plagueis, we can, for the first time in history, turn this thread into a Darth Plagueis in live action thread.

    Let the renaming commence.

I love that Crimson Peak was a design influence for Plagueis. The ghosts’ hands in that movie, in particular, stood out for me as a powerful and memorable image, as was their overall skeletal design. Adapting some of that imagery for Plagueis makes great use of his pre-existing Muun design and ties him closer to the archetype of the Grim Reaper.

Legends artwork and fan artwork of Plagueis rarely knew how to make good use of Muuns’ very particular hand design, often altogether ignoring it and giving him more human-like hands. So it’s admirable that the Acolyte crew not only embraced it but took it further and tied it to his thematic connection to life and death in the saga.

We'll rename it this weekend for the sake of the one dawdler who has yet to watch the episode.

Actually, seeing him is what gives me real hope for season 2 funnily enough. The show did a terrible job at it but I feel like it tried to set up this vergence in the force thing as the in for Plagueis to be able to figure out how to create life or at least know the pathway to do it which REALLY would feed in to the PT. This is interesting and Qimir knows about it now. And clearly he cares about Osha, so Plagueis can definitely use that.

The whole creating life and Plagueis is definitely why he showed up. But not everyone knew who he was. My cousin only knows Plagueis from Episode III with Palpatine speech so he actually had no clue who the mystery alien guy was. He thought maybe it was the witch. Context would have been nice or at least a mention, name, something

After more than a decade long hiatus from the forums, I have to jump in again now.
    IT FINALLY HAPPENED^:)^
Though I have not been happy with a lot of the decisions made in the Acolyte, this little scene made my day.
Designwise though I would have expected DP being a little younger, to fit in with Lucenos story (if I remember correctly, he was was scarred and needed a breather due to an attempt on his life shortly before TPM. Maybe we can see his buisness alter ego in the Senate in S2 sowing the seeds for the Jedi´s downfall. I hope his droid pops up too and maybe we can get a flashback of his master (I always wondered what a bith Sith would look like).

Regarding Qimir, it is not unusual for the lesser Sith Lords to have apprentices (Sideous had Maul when DP was alive, Dooku had Ventress, Vader wanted Luke) aka Acolytes.

We may not need a flashback at all. Tenebrous could be alive and be the Sith Master. Plagueis might be his apprentice currently. Qimir could be a dark side user or he could be Plagueis's Acolyte who is himself recruiting an Acolyte to overthrow Plagueis, and has no idea that Tenebrous exists, just as Osha has no idea Plagueis exists.

I hope we don't get Tenebrous. I feel it would diminish Plagueis' role as the big bad here.

I see some questions about his age here, but Palpatine's description of "Darth Plagueis the Wise" in ROTS has always made him sound like an ancient Sith. Someone who is a legend would have to be very old.

Agreed plus a bith Sith no matter will look stupid and goofy. Like i think only a big budget movie could do that good. Have Darth Plagueis be the Sith master and him as the big bad of this era before Palpatine. Plagueis as an Apprentice we can have when we see or read about him in earlier in the Timeline.

You don't want Tenebrous? The more Sith, the merrier for me. I don't think it would diminish Plagueis at all. He's just as terrifying and powerful whether technically the 'master' or not. He could be the big bad villain for season two. Then, maybe Qimir and Osha develop a plan to kill Plagueis and free themselves, only to learn that they have been mistaken this whole time and there is actually another, even more powerful person in their path, leading into season 3.

I thought a Muun Sith Lord would be difficult to pull off and make it look menacing and believable, but this show succeeded, so I'm inclined to believe a talented designer and artist could pull off a Bith. This show had the budget of a big movie, so no worries there for me.

I'm okay either way, but I think it would be interesting and consistent with how secretive and deceptive the Sith are required to be, like Qimir hiding his identity to his potential acolyte.

If they can make a Muun look threatening, then I’m sure they could do something with Tenebrous’ design.

Not that I’m advocating for him, I don’t need the show to become a Russian Doll (HEH GET IT) of Masters and Apprentices.

They make Muun look good, i need to see them make Bith look good before i believe. Also has no one shared the new interview from Collider. Talks about Darth Plagueis seeking power as he dosent have it yet. And more. I think this should Be the era of Darth Plagueis as the big bad for next 50 years. Tenebrous we can see in the time of High Republic books thats 100 years before.

You’re saying he ‘seeks’ power? Like a Sith apprentice ‘craves’ power? ;)

I wasn't aware that Tenebrous was dead in canon at this time. The impression I had was this was Plagueis's first appearance in the canon timeline, and it didn't quite mesh with what had been established in novels and such (similar to how Ki-Adi-Mundi's age was finessed somewhat.)

Obviously, you could be right. There is no way to know for sure right now, in my opinion, unless I'm unaware of a canon reference to Tenebrous that says he died 100 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire.

Being the Sith apprentice is nothing to sneeze at. Darth Vader never rose above being the apprentice and he was probably one of the most feared and successful Sith Lords the galaxy has ever known.

Also the new interview says Qimir is a Sith lord. So no Tenebrous here. And it mesh well with the novels as he is in the planet with Cortosis from the book. He said to be very old 100 when meeting Palpatine. There is nothing that about Tenebrous in Canon but interviews and what the show says gives it Away he is dead. And Darth Vader was always a slave until the end.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I read the interview (I assume it's the one you referenced; I skimmed over the parts not pertaining to Plagueis) and Headland is definitely interested in telling Plagueis's story and it all but confirms he will be a big player next season. I'm excited about that.

When asked if Qimir knows Plagueis was in the cave, she responded "Let's leave that up to [the future]."
She is wisely ambiguous. Plans change. In this same interview, she reveals the plans for the Stranger changed after Manny looked so cool in the screen test. He wasn't originally supposed to be involved much after episode 6, it seems. So, obviously, she doesn't want to box herself in to a situation that she may change her mind about later, if a better idea strikes.
This is the same person who said (also in an interview) "There will be no Yoda cameo." She didn't want to spoil the surprise, then. She may not want to spoil the Tenebrous surprise either.

Again, I don't have a preference either way. If Plagueis is flying solo at this point, that's fine by me. But, I think nothing is set in stone.

Apparently headland had to fight to use plagueis and Yoda even for a brief cameo. Lucasfilm were very protective
